About PV Panel Modeling
Designing an efficient PV plants requires a complete knowledge of the PV modules characteristic in order to predict their performances. For this reason, in recent years several software applications have been proposed for modeling PV modules. Nevertheless, the present application is different both from the past ones and from the ones currently presents on market. Indeed, it is based on a complete theoretical analysis for the extraction of the five parameters (one-diode model) identifying PV modules at standard reference conditions (SRC - irradiance 1000 W/m2 and temperature 25°C) from manufacturers' datasheets. The five parameters are: series resistance, shunt resistance, ideality factor, photo current and reverse saturation current. This means that "PV panel modeling" is able to compute with extreme accuracy the EXACT five parameters, not a their approximation as the other software do.
"PV panel modeling" has been validated on hundreds of PV panels belonging to the California Energy Commission (CEC) database. The research was performed by ESTLAB (Electrical Science and Technology Laboratory) at Roma Tre University (Rome, Italy) and all the theory is published on Solar Energy Journal with reference " Laudani, A., Fulginei, F.R., Salvini, A., 2014. Identification of the one-diode model for photovoltaic modules from datasheet values, Solar Energy 108, pp. 432–446, DOI: 10.1016/j.solener.2014.07.024".
The present software is aimed to researchers in the field of solar energy for their scientific applications and studies, and also to all engineers who want an exact PV modeling within their projects.
