Avocado - Chat for Couples

I can't believe my husband and I forgot how much we loved this app when we were dating. Now that Google Hangouts has been failing us both, we've switched back and are quite happy so far! If we stick to it, we will definitely be upgrading. I wish I could customize my notifications a little more and that the "_____ is typing" bar didn't block the last message, but overall we're happy!

Used to be a fantastic app. Recent update (several weeks ago) has caused me to receive messages far after they were sent. Half the time they never even show up on my phone even though my partner sends them, the other half there's no notification that I got a message at all. No update since has rectified this. I'm only getting around to writing this now because I just realized it's still inexplicably installed.

I've loved this app for the last year. It's been great and I always felt the privacy between me and my husband. It was something special between us. I had the app on my phone and also I used to open a tab on my browser during work so I can chat with him easily. But unfortunately Avocado stopped working for days. the messages are no more going instantly, we need to refresh the screen to see new messages. I stopped even receiving notifications. You guys gave us chance to look for alternatives and we did :-(

Got this app over 2 years ago. Most of the time bugs have been taken care of quickly. I haven't been able to use some of the features for over a week now. Not sure what happened. Emailed customer support, never recieved a reply. My girl and i are no longer able to upload pictures and send "kisses". This app is the main communication tool i have with my girl, i would like the issues to be resolved.< I am upping the rating since the issues i've had have been successufuly resolved. I am once again a happy user

It WAS wonderful app for me and my loving boyfriend overseas...but lately it's been bugging out and not sending messages.. Also the kiss button isn't Working! Working on HTC ones.. LG g3 AND used an iPhone 4s... So multiple phones and the same issue. Please update

I've been using avocado with my boyfriend for a long time now. Nothing had gone wrong until a few weeks ago we noticed the XOXO feature to "kiss" (a funny cute feature that made us laugh) is no longer working. Avocado needs some updates.

I love the app, it is a really great concept. Especially for people in my situation with a long distance relationship. The only reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars, is because the app has a bit of lag, and sometimes my messages won't go through; they should really get that fixed. If they does I'll change my review to 5 stars. Update: from 4 stars to 3, I'm not getting any notifications. I still like it but I'm not satisfied.

Absolutely love the hug and kiss features. Makes you feel right next to your loved one. However. The pictures feature is a bit lacking; no albums, etc - just every picture you posted in order that you did. Add more features, like that of LoveByte and you will be leaps and bounds above every couples app. Please take head and attempt to do so.

Notifications have been hit and miss lately, and I'm hoping for a fix soon. But the designer(s) have definitely done their research with this app. It's a pleasure to use, and gives just the right features to distinguish it from non-specialized communication apps. You don't NEED to use it with your significant other: try it with your business partner or your brother or whoever. Just know that the Kiss feature is really fun, no matter who's on the other end.

Guys, 2 years using your service. What happened? Why we got no updates since... I dont know... I can't even remember. Material design? I don't know if it is missing or if it is intentional Yo leave the app like this, but it looks old, now. The messaging system is great, it makes you feel safe while having a chat with your girl. But seriously, guys, help me adore you again.

Really neat app for being able to send text messages to your significant other. Also has the ability to create shared calendars and to store pictures/videos. The only slight criticism I have would be that I wish you could reply to messages while you were still in other apps like other text messaging apps do

It's has a lot of features but we haven't used it for anything but sharing grocery lists, and now with a couple of kids my wife thinks a piece of paper is easier to use then the lists feature! I think with a few changes this could be a good app. Plus $8 a year for premium is way too much.

I got the subscription. I won't be renewing in 30 days unless kisses start working again in that time. Otherwise it does what it says it does. Very cute. Very fun. Very hip. My girlfriend and I enjoy it. She probably wouldn't mind if I could "kiss" her back. Here's to hoping kisses comes back so I can give it 5 stars.

I use it to talk to my husband but for both of us for some time now, there are no notifications showing we have received a message from the other. Yes my notifications are turned on, I'm not 5 and I know how to use my phone. Seriously considering leaving avocado for something better. I've had to reinstall 3 times so far but if this continues I will be uninstalling for good.

I've had several issues with the app on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The app probably needs updated to resolve them. Sometimes messages won't be sent for unknown reasons and I won't get a notification of a new message. I've had to force stop the app and clear the cache several times to regain function. Picture messages are the worst as far as getting them to go through and I've had issues where the app has actually ended up corrupting the file I was trying to send. Oh and I paid for the app.

I've always loved avocado, and will continue to use it. Needs a face-lift, as well as more options for what displays in the message stream. Calendar and note interfaces are very poor. Expedited support for unlimited members is a joke. I was told the new support system would be faster, but mostly it's just harder to get an answer and now you don't have anyone's direct contact.

I used to love this app and have used it for years. My husband and I use it frequently for our grocery shopping, but lists are broken. I can't add new items or delete old so now it's completely useless. Would love if it worked again, but I guess I'll find a better app now.

While signing up for the app it asked to set a common password but it never asks for one. I mean I don't wanna even get there thinking that you guys developed this couple app without making it password protected. So I'm considering it to be a glitch n seek assistance from the development team. The app is beautiful otherwise. Could have been better if we could have shared voice messages as well.

Update* something changed, and it no longer updates. Can't add items to lists or calendar. Been down all day. First time I've had issues with this since downloading it years ago (that's why 2 stars instead of 1)

I have been using this app for a month or so and have loved it. However starting a couple of days ago, messages have stopped sending and none of the features are working. I'd like to continue to use this app but the features are useless to me if they don't work.

This app would be great if all features worked as promised, but it is rife with bugs. Many of the basic functions don't work and it's largely rendered pointless because of this. It's getting two stars instead of one because it's a nice idea and the aesthetic of the app is lovely, but until it actually works I would not recommend this.

DON'T PAY FOR THE PREMIUM VERSION! I used the app, payed for the premium version and for half a day had access to the upgraded features. I contacted customer support twice now and they haven't responded once. Not a 'we're working on the situation" no follow up questions, just took my money and screwed me. If they decide to fix this I will change my review but for now I am NOT a satisfied customer.

I switched to the app "between" because it's free and offers more. I will come back to avacado once they sell it cheaper and offer better updates... Half the time it won't work. Not worth $8 a year in my opinion.

Consistency of push notifications varies. The calender is a serious struggle. The media and shared lists thing is cool. My hug/kiss works fine. I like being able to see battery notifications. If the push notifications for messages always worked, this app would be way better.

Messages fail to send, instead remaining in perpetual "send" mode. Oddly able to send images, lists, and events, but not basic messages. The app is worthless without this primary function. On a separate note, why does the iOS version have the option to send location, but not Android?

I really wanted to like avocado, me and my girlfriend. Unfortunately I almost never received messages on my Moto. Personally I don't care if I don't get notifications, if she enjoys using it on her iPhone I'd continue using it regardless. I could see why they're be bugs on the Android operating system but why is she having problems with her iPhone? There's only a few apples devices. I hope one day I'll come back and renew my subscription. Until then I'm back on kik.

There's no notifications that I've got a msg, even though I turned on my notifications, I want to put my picture up and I can't, I wanted to send kisses I can't, and I would like a notification toggle on the top when I get msgs.. not checking in to the app being anxious or not miss an on going msg..

This app is great. My wife and I like using it to send content that should only be seen by us. Wish it had more features though. Also sometime we have trouble with the app notifying us of a message and that can suck at times. Overall though I recommend.

This app deserves a 1 star as the basic functions advertised fail to work. No picture messages are displayed only a notification. Functions such as hugs don't work. Sony z2

I really love this app.. Went back to Whatsapp just because my boyfriend had to format his phone and forgot the shared password.. In other words: WE forgot the password. Cant find any way to recover it via the app's settings whatsover. Fix it and i'll fix this ;) Edit: All fixed, thanks! No more updates BTW?

Nexus 6 running Marshmallow. Sound notification runs through media volume instead of ringer volume, but even on full volume no sound notification came through. Would like that to come back.

It was a good app before I suddenly knew that my girlfriend wants to break up with me using this app. Anyway, there are still bugs to fix. I can't seem to send her kisses whenever I liked. Developers, if you're really reading this. Please fix it. Thanks also for letting me and my girl connected.

This app will be totally all in 1 awesome if it had suggestions on things were to go around town for a couple and coupons almost like Groupon/ Living Social with a expense app something like better haves so we can keep track of things together that would make this perfect

Shared calendar is awful. Can't seem to figure out how to handle multiple Google calendar imports. Agenda veiw is worthless, shows New Years is every day. Makes zero sense, can't believe we dropped $9 on this.

Really liked the app until it stopped working today (11/3/15) and will not send any messages. Unfortunate. My husband and I really liked sending little pictures and noted back and forth.

I love using avocado to text my s/o, but when it comes down to it, I rarely get notifications that I have received a message. And isn't that the whole point? Keeping in touch?

After two years of paid premium service, will be discontinuing. No app updates in 8 months, no voice or video capabilities, limited emoticons. Even customer service and social media response times are slowing. Sad to say good-bye, but I'm sure my money can buy a better couples chat app.

This is literally the first review I have ever given. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY!!! This app sucks. Half of the time it doesn't work, other half of the time, it always stops working right in the middle of doing something. I just tried to draw a cute picture, 10 minutes in of work, things crash.....may not seam like much but it is. Notifications do not work, always stalls, problems with sending/receiving pictures, lists constantly dissappear.

The app randomly stopped working for me yesterday. It wouldn't let me send messages so I uninstalled/reinstalled it but it wouldn't let me sign in again. So I guess we'll have to move on to a different couple app.
