About Stay In Touch

"Stay In Touch" is a simple utility application which fills a neglected gap in most PIM software. Calendars and task management software are great for tasks with definite timelines; but they do not work so well for unscheduled and more ambiguous tasks; like keeping in touch with friends, or remembering to think/pray about various things. For these types of tasks, there is no definite deadline; but if you neglect them entirely, then you risk losing things which are very important to you.

"Stay In Touch" allows you to store multiple lists of people/items/events/etc with which you wish to interact regularly; but for which you do not want to impose a very definite schedule. For each item you add to the list, you can indicate a nominal time period/frequency with which you want to interact with that item. Items are then dynamically sorted by urgency; helping you to stay in touch with the people and things that mean a lot to you; rather than allowing them to become buried in your busyness.

This application was written primarily for myself, lest I forget important people and things during my the hustle and bustle of my PhD; but is provided her in the hope it might be useful.

Current Features:
- Add / edit items from the list, each with a separate indication of how regularly the item should be reviewed.
- Add a negation option ("avoid") which specifies that the item should be avoided in real life (helps to keep track of various bad habits).
- Add / edit multiple modes (categories) for the items.
- Quickly add some modes/category presets.
- Items are sorted by urgency, and colour coded.
- Notifications automatically show when you have urgent items.

Does exactly what i want it to do. For example if you want to remember to vacuum once a week, it reminds you and turns appropriate color to how soon you are to needing it be done. Great for forgetful people. You can change frequency as well so if you decide you dont need to vacuum once a week, you can change it to every other week. Also logs history so you can backtrack specific dates. The reason you cannot sort these items is because it automatically puts them in order of needed frequency. (If you need something to be done daily, that will be higher on the list than something you need to be done monthly. Then it drops to the bottom of the list if you already did that item for the day). Interface took some getting use to and crashes occasionally but in general has been working great for what i needed. Much thanks to the developers!

I have only found one other app that is like this one to help remind you when it's been too long since you have contacted someone, and this one is better because I dont have to use the imbedded address bk on my tablet. You type the name, and set the duration until the alert will repeat. It will remind me to contact my coworker after 7 days, or my friend after 14 days. You could have multiple lists of friends or items that need to be "engaged" and tells you how long it has been since you last "engaged". If its been longer than the duration you set, then it pops up in notifications as "2 things out of touch" etc. Anyone who networks for business knows how important it is to stay in contact with specific people to keep yourself in the loop. Or to keep in touch with long distance family. You could even use it remind of repeating engagements, events or tasks that extend beyond 1 day. You can view a history of all the dates you contacted a person. This app would be 5 stars, if you could add a brief note to each time you engage, then you could add something about where you met up, or what was talked about, as this would help me to manage my relationships a little better. Great job!!

Why can't I sort the list by name

Exactly the simple reminder app I was looking for. A quick notes field that can be entered/saved when an item is engaged & is saved in history would be useful.

I see a potential use of this app, only if you find time and add the planed future features. 4 start for inspiration ;-)
