WaterNav Midlands for Android
Terribly slow.
Stopped working after my phone updated to Marshmallow now waiting for update.... Make sure that you have a good wifi connection when you install it and if you are upgrading make sure you read the bit about clearing data first.
Works perfectly well on my Galaxy Note 4..... but it would be so much better with bridge numbers; lock numbers; pub names etc
Running on Samsung Galaxy S4 and ver 5.0.1 DROID. Problem was as already commented that mobile data (even good 4G,with 35Mbs speedtest ) can result in a failed download even though the program looks like it has completed downloading fully. My app ran with Gps position ok and all the POI but no maps at most zoom ins ( you get a white screen with "tile not available with this app").I contacted the app help & got first rate same day response.Check app size is 1.28Gb my failed was only 82Mb - big clue of no maps
Using on Samsung Tab pro now, have used on other tablets and phones. Great that you don't need Internet to use it as not always available on canals. Have 3 regions altogether.
Purchased this (not cheap) app ahead of a recent canal cruise. The functionality pictured and described doesn't exist! ! ! Just the map and warnings. No menus, No tools. I am running 4.4.2 so it should work. I am sure the Trade Descriptions Act or Sale of Goods Act has legislation to stop this?!?!
Tried to contact developer about issues but no respinse. Don't waste your money!
I really wanted this app, i bought it and attempted to contact the developer for the android 4.4.4 fix. Waste of time, developer cannot even get their email address right, info@e-canalmapp.co All attempts have failed. It looks like a great app, but if you got 4.4.4 dont waste your money. Cymon.
I know I should have read the full description but when the top line reads new version compatible with 4.4, you would expect it to be compatible with 4.4.4 since that version has been around for a while. New version in development should be ready by July, now the middle of august and people needing this for summer canal trips who have stupidly kept their android up to date are going to be disappointed.
This app is amazing I can see where the locks are and it gives me all tge the warnings I need.
I love this app. it's just what I need when cruising. The newest version now shows mph on the main screen, too! I have the app on my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Google Play for some reason decided it could no longer update or install to my 7, but I contacted the developer and he had me fixed and running the same day. Couldn't ask for more.
This works on my Galaxy Note 3 and also worked on my S2, S3, and Note 2. Just make sure that you have a good wifi connection when you install it and if you are upgrading make sure you read the bit about clearing data first. I bought this to complement the Eureauweb program for my laptop so that I could look things up without firing that up.
Works ok on my HTC One, great app but is memory hungry and can run slow sometimes so I make sure I close down other apps if needing to use. The app has a lot of information so I guess that's why it can run slow, I emailed the developer and he said his team are working on improvements.
downloaded installed lots of memory but all i get is sorry application has stopped and force close ?? update now been a couple of weeks ,unable to contact developer no response at all DONT waste your money just keep your nicholson guides
The application is fragile! Samsung Galaxy Ace with lots of available space. The map data is huge and the download breaks at random points during the download. A restart takes you back to the beginning of the download again. The application is unable to resume a broken download! This means that for me two months of my data allowance has now been used up. Four goes to download is more than enough times. I contacted the vendors who provided info on where I could download the map data via wifi - only the info was duff. Excuses have included server crashes. So, you pays your money and you takes your chance. It seems to have worked for some but not for others.... On a scale of 1 to 10 its 0.01 for me.
This is the second e-map I have bought mainly because I didn't go to the website and see which area covered which could have saved some money if a map of the area was included in the app description (simples). The download is in excess of one gigabytes! So I had to apologise to the Marina (Yelvertoft) for freezing the sites internet while Xoom was intent on downloading the package. Incidentally, was disappointed not to find the Marina included, nor on search engine. I guess these things take time.... The e map is fine most of the time as long as the sun isn't shining, which luckily it doesn't most of the time, but it seems a bit anal to be more interested in the app rather than the surroundings; I hope this will wear off in time. Spent even more time writing this, so will end with a desire which if it happens will improve rating to Max. Please include a facility to allow the map to be copied and paste into a file thereby allowing me to send it to friends who might want to visit, or for my own records. I travel around the canals on a continuous cruise apart from winter stoppages and it would be nice to be able to use this app to log my overnight stays. Cheers!
I bought this app last year, and found my phone just couldn't handle it (it crashed repeatedly at the map download stage)...I thought "silly me". Now I have a fresh, empty Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE I figured it's worth another go, so I've successfully downloaded the map data, now it just repeatedly freezes on the welcome screen. What a waste of time and money! To those who say "don't whinge before contacting developer", I say "develop it, then sell it - not the other way around".
I have used this on my mobile phone. But it's even better on my Tablet. Detailed maps and very easy to use. I use a Google Nexus 10, fantastic.
I am so glad this app exists. Our canal boat trip starts tomorrow and after the maps download last night the app works entirely as it says on the tin. And I think our map was only released last week! There was no option to try before buy but we paid £2000 for the boat hire so £6 for the GPS mapping was no big risk. Update: works flawlessly, tracks progress accurately, mapping clear, info very useful. 2 suggestions: show current speed, and after calculating distance in miles also show number of locks.
Huge amount of useful information. Covers entire region of Four Counties Ring, which I'm attempting soon. Had problem with some missing mapping, but support from the developer resolved this very quickly. Installed on both Galaxy 3 and Asus Eee Pad tablet. Works fine on both, although map download on Eee Pad took a few attempts for some reason. For half the price of Pearson, and third the price of Nicholson, for 100x the information, it's definitely very good value.
A brilliant app. It contains everything you would need when on the cut. Had a couple of issues, but first class response from developers. Don't worry if you install and it scrolls slowly. Its a huge install so expect slowness if you want to scroll a few hundred miles. Don't forget you go at about four miles an hour tops so it will have no problems scrolling at that speed.
Downloaded this app and gave it 12 hours to open! Can't comment on functions because it just doesn't work. Don't waste your cash.
Currently doing the Four Counties Ring loads of info great detail thanks
Been waiting for this for ages, but it does need over 1Gb internal memory or an SD card otherwise maps will not load. It is a great app, however an unbelievable amount of information, and we’ll be getting the South region as soon as it’s available!”
This version installs fine onto the SD card in my HTC Sensation. Contains a large amount of POI information and is fairly intuitive to use. Now waiting for the North West map.
Wont even load ive got plenty of free space on my phone and sd card
Sounds like a very good idea But unfortunately it just don't work I just get a constant stream of bad icon alerts
I downloaded this long awaited app and had a few problems installing it on my Galaxy Ace. I contacted the developer and received prompt and very friendly support and now it is working fine. Perhaps those who have posted negative reviews should have done this before whinging.
