About Pocketshare: File Transfer NAS

Do you still use USB flash drives? You carry gigabytes of freely available memory directly in your pocket with you - your smartphone! Pocketshare gives you easy and secure access to this memory via Mac OS, Windows and Linux.

File transfer from one computer to another has never been easier: Just copy your files to Pocketshare and access them from any other computer on your local network. Keep track of the shared files with the built-in file manager.

Even advanced users get their money's worth: Pocketshare is a full-featured NAS that supports Samba (SMB / CIFS), WebDAV, and FTP connections.

With integrated file transfer over WiFi Direct you can send files to other Android devices (premium version required). With the free version you can receive files from other Pocketshare users in your area.

• Pocketshare is foolproof: no other software required - access your wireless flash drive via Finder or Windows Expolorer.
• Pocketshare is fast: super-fast wireless file transfer over WiFi or WiFi Direct.
• Pocketshare is secure: No servers - your data is only available on your smartphone. Enable user authentication to secure your flash drive even more.

The premium version (available as in-app purchase) offers the following additional features:

• File transfer to other Android devices via WiFi Direct
• Free choice of the share folder. E.g. external SD card
• Protection through authentication (username / password)

Little Little bit hard to figure out given terse instructions, but works great once figured out. No servers so security is good. Also, the home page does not go horizontal on my tablet which is a pain.

by R####:

Works like a charm. It's frustrating that in 2017, you can't just plug in your smartphone over USB and easily transfer your files from large drives, but that's the reality. Easy to setup between Windows 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Transferring files between android devices and computers remains as difficult as ever for me as this app does Nada. And before someone says why didn't you seek help let me say I went to the developers website and found no help so I typed help into the search box and got one hit but no hyperlink to get to it.

R70%
by R####:

This app is great, but it really needs a feature to "Start on Device Boot" so that it automatically turns on when the phone starts up and I wouldn't need to open the app every time I restart my phone.

H70%
by H####:

Works great for Mac, but note that you have to buy the $1.49 premium version to set a password (i.e., free version has security risk). For Linux, it says you have to install Avahi, but I can't find which of the many Avahi packages are required.

App was simple to install and works well. I will need to find out if the paid version still limits the number of files at a time.

Fails to create directories in both SMB and FTP

wont say its junk for most people but to me its pure junk, will not connect to a secure windows system, unable to load files to it, it does NOT see whats on my phone to be xfered. unable to connect windows to it even after dling and running the bat file. which the way the bat file is worded its nothing special that wasnt already in windows 10. so yea if other like it then good but i cant see anything good of this app as it sits...uninstalling it.

Mac OS X. It does show in Finder but Finder reports insufficient space when I try to transfer a file. File is 1.5 GB, available space is 8 GB. I will change this rating if the problem is FIXED . UPDATE! The problem is fixed in the latest release. The developer will quickly respond if notified of a problem. The zero configuration feature is a nice time saver.

Hate is a harsh word but I have 2X S5 phones, configured the same but this program loads, what seems to be fine, on my phone but stops with some write over message on my husbands. He has been trying everything for the last 1.5 hours to make this write over thing work on his phone like it did on mine. No luck. What good is it to have it on one device and no other? That's why a 1*.

R70%

I really like the possibilities here, but could you either make it work with Linux, or point me to how to do so? Yes, we're a minority, but its very like mac under the hood.

R70%
by R####:

Why is it asking to disable Screen Overlay, I have just turned all off and still not working. I have just got it from App Gratis and want to try full version for free. Not Happy

R70%
by R####:

Took me a long time to figure out how to make it work with my win7 pro laptop. Then all of a sudden after another reboot, my Note 3 was seen as a mapped drive. More youtube videos would help android os challenged like me.

N70%
by N####:

Constantly crashes (reboots my device). Galaxy note tab running Jelly Bean.

R70%
by R####:

When I open the app the phone restarts by itself

Y70%
by Y####:

I installed this on my wife's S5 and followed the write over screen thing and the program loaded and appears to boot up, waiting for a connection. On my S5, I keep getting the Allow Overlay thing, do what it says and this program still won't run. Because of this failure to load on 2X phones, it gets a 1* because it needs 2 devices to work. Deleted after wasting over 2 hours trying to make it work.

I like the pro features very much The custom path sharing, authentication things are really nice. the only thing is that I need a working network connection on both of the devices and that's cool for me. I like it. and the description of the app is fit and right. Now I have the flash drive with me always.

D70%

I was exactly searching for this app. I hate searching for my USB wire for transferring small files like one document or one photo. Thanks man!
