The excitement that arises out of meeting Guru Granth is an experience called NAAM - also called WAH-E-GURU. This spark, surprisingly, leads you into a social path, where you begin offering social service to the needy people of the world. Beautiful days set in. The ecstasy is kept alive by loud singing of God all through those beautiful days. Guru Granth provides the lyrics[Shabad in Punjabi]. This combination of SEWA(service) and SHABAD(singing), eventually carries one to the last stage where one says - O My God! I never saw You in humanity and Nature. You were right in front of me! Guru Granth is all about that. The first eight pages[Japuji] are his philosophy in nutshell. The rest of the Granth is meant to be sung in classical Indian Raags. The Shabads are words of praise on the Universal God.
Guru Granth is not attached to a particular religion, nor is it a religion. It is a neutral music that anybody can sing towards the Beloved Common God - call him Allah, Ram, Jesus, Rabb, anything. Guru Granth is n't concerned about the name of the God, or the religions of the world.
Guru Granth is a joint writing by intelligent people of India, who came from a cocktail of various religions and castes of that time. The Hon'ble Bhats were Brahmins, Hon'ble Kabir was both a Muslim and Hindu, Hon'ble Baba Farid was a Muslim who talks about his offering of Namaaz at numerous places in the Granth, Hon'ble Ravidass was a Chamar, the Gurus were themselves Khatris, the list of authors is endless. The common thing among all these authors was that they wanted men to become good and make the world more better. The language is not wholly Punjabi. It is mostly Bhojpuri, and Indian dialects. The script is called Gurmukhi,
People of all religions from Hindusim to Christianity to Islam love to read Guru Granth. Many of them attain the Supreme Understanding through this. You don't have to be a Sikh to feel Guru Granth, who is primarily concerned about reforming you as a human being and making the world a better place. The followers of Sikh Religion make a personal commitment to follow the path of Guru Granth through Baptizing. This is an excellent initiative and service. Proper Guru Granth sahib translation was missing from the appstore and to give a adfree version is commendable. Blessing onto your head. Tweak a little with improvement of interface although the present one is also good.

As I am not punjabi and cannot read the Gurumukhi script am able to read only english translations. Can you also add hindi to the app? Am very much attracted to Sikhism and wanted to read Granth Sahib. Its a great app from you.

English translation is well and good but it had be nice if you could also include a Hindi phonetic version included for non Gurmukhi readers to enjoy the sheer poetry. It also does help to learn Gurmukhi script thereby.

very nice app without ads, its a boon for all those like me, who don't keep rahet maryada but want to read Shri shri guru granth sahib ji. So far I have read only few ang of holy book but come to know that only in this life we can decide our life after death. we are entangled in never ending process of accumulating and then losing in the end. I want to donate small amount so that developer can continue such projects. Thanks a lot, God bless you!

Best app,best book. I had an after death experience from drowning as a child. Long story short, I saw a white hole in the sky & a "laser" from its center hit me in the forehead, then all time, space, things & people became 1 conscious singularity. I never forgot it, even now that I'm old. I've looked into many things to understand & I've made countless mistakes. I'm not Sikh or saint or sage but reading the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji everything makes sense now. WaheGuru! There's only 1 alone, THE ONE NAME!!!

Very accurate and clear translation in English.Night mode is green so very comfortable for eyes.There are some places for improvement:Add one word or gurbani tuk search.There should be a catalogue in starting telling from which to which page no.a particular gurus or bhagats bani is available.Meaning in punjabi should also be explained in one line along.Hoping improvements soon.sumit ahuja

I love this App. One can easily go to any page, change the font, get and simultaneously read english translation, take hukamnama. Wah ! Could we get the Index separately or along, that would be helpful in locating particular shabad. A great effort made for the benefit and immediate reference by sikh diaspora and for all others who love to go to depth of truth and get indepth knowledge.

Very nice. Easy to read and understand but to really understand gurbani one need to read whole guru granth sahib few times and then try to interpret and understand it according to the gurbani knowledge gained by reading it. Need lot of concentration patience meditation. To reach to that shabad, nam,need to follow different path. Just reading gurbani is not enough but we should strive to reach where gurbani preaches and tries to take us.
