About Startup Manager (Free)

Startup Manager aims at helping disable/enable startup items from system boot for Android devices including smartphones and tablets. To disable an item from system startup, uncheck the application from the list (recheck to restore and it will start again). For other item that do not start with system boot, please use “Customize” to add and enable it to start with system boot.

Supported languages: English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, and Indonesian.

User tab shows all the user applications that have restart function. You can uncheck them all to enhance system startup speed. Long tap an app name will give you access to enable/disable, read application info about, uninstall the app and search the app in Android Market.

System tab shows all the system processes that start with system boot. Some processes may not be necessary to start due to our using habits and preferences. Please uncheck these processes only if you know well about the effects of disabling them.

If you want to add a new item that does not start with device boot, Customize is the best choice.

Besides features above, from Startup Manager Menu - settings you can also select if you want to calculate system startup time and disable system boot sound.

Note: For android 2.2 and higher OS non-rooted devices, some processes will restart themselves right after being disabled.

Product Features:
- Master of Android system's startup entry management
- Intelligently analyze and monitor all system startup entries (include user applications and system processes) in the background
- Safely disable any undesired application or process from auto-startup at device boot
- One click to view detailed properties for each startup entry
- Disabled startup entries are stored for future restoration
- Add your favorite applications (including 3rd party user apps or system apps) to system startup

Great app if you learn how to use it. Obviously if there are system applications that you don't understand then leave them alone. Also the applications do get smaller when you browse them to see which ones to not allow at startup. Quick fix ,for now till the development team fixes the issue, click customize then back on apps this will enlarge a majority of the apps that are currently on screen and allow you to disable startup. I will do some more testing with the application and get back with an updated review.

The text in this app is so tiny I can't even read it without a magnifying glass and it takes multiple tries to select the item you want because everything is close together and very tiny. The app doesn't allow me to zoom. For that reason I can't give it more than 3 stars. I also have no real way of knowing whether it really does block something from running at startup, which is the only reason I wanted this app.

Works to load apps added for autostart under Customize (and loads them faster than the AutoStart app). Needs a "Go to home screen" option to load customized list of apps to autostart and then change focus to the home screen. Shoves too much in the screen (which is scrollable) so text is small so touch areas are also small.

Y70%
by Y####:

Before this public rating, I emailed the author but got no reply. This app is promising but unusable. The main screen text is too tiny to read. It's not just small. I'd call it microscopic. The app's help screen has normal size text, so it's not a phone problem. Others have complained about this. A concerned author would have addressed it immediately and fixed it quickly. This suggests the author is indifferent or asleep. That's unfortunate for an app that looked promising.

T70%
by T####:

Asks for absurd permissions that others scuch apps don't. Should only need file/media access. Definitely doesn't need "identity" and others. Disabled items appear enabled when they scroll off and back on screen. They don't seem to disable.

N70%
by N####:

App is good after few days of usage but there are few problems with it. 1. It doesn't show many user installed apps which start with booting. 2. Even after disabling few apps from starting up with every boot the app actually gets started on booting. Just fix these issues for a better rating.

Terrible! Screwed up some of my apps that were supposed to auto-start, and wouldn't prevent the ones from auto-starting that I wanted it to. Gotta love an app that warns you that if you uninstall it, it's gonna screw your stuff up! Jeesh!

This is a great app. Simple UI. Choose which apps you don't want to start automatically. Set and forget. Stay away from the system tab unless you know what you are doing. Brilliant App, the best! To the developers, please don't stop maintaining this app. Tool box is good, but this is better. Cheers

This app used to work great, it was my go-to Startup Manager, but now when i open it, the text is so small, i can't read it, never mind click the appropriate option. I wish i could still use it, and I'm sure it would still work, if only i could configure it, but it's impossible now. I have to find anothet one, sadly...

Love it. And anyone stupid enough to disable all system apps should go back to kindergarten where they belong. Kevin Brick comes to mind with his dumb ass review. Why do you have a smartphone?

T70%
by T####:

This app makes such a huge difference in the boot up time. Its dropped from over 4 minutes, to just under 1 minute!! One strange thing i noticed is that the text of everything only gets tiny when you update Android System WebView... Nonetheless a simple yet functional app, Great work Daniel Ch

T70%
by T####:

The font size is so small that I ll need a magnifying glass. Forget working the touchscreen. The developer has botched up the app fonts rendering it impossible to use. Read some comments below but they offer an alternative solution. Need to sort this out ASAP

T70%
by T####:

The scaling on this app is so broken. The apps list is tiny and gets even smaller if you scroll (by small I mean 1 letter is 3 pixels) but the ad is so big I can scroll it.

C70%
by C####:

It's shite!! First of all the buttons are tiny and hardly readable and 2nd, it does not work. I disabled superplex and a few other apps so they would not autostart. Guess what? Didnt work. Rebooted, reinstalled, tried again, removed app. It's SHITE!

D70%
by D####:

This app is very simple to use and agreat idea. The problem is no matter how I set it up I can't get my boot time under 2 minutes. Most likely my phone and not the apps fault because similar apps give the same results.

W70%
by W####:

IT'S BEEN LIKE OVER 2 MONTHS, FIX THE DARN THING ALREADY!!! Everything is SO ridiculously small that it's unusable.... would have been 4.5* if displayed enough to function~ Now, dev could easily do a quick fix and provide an update but nope.... instead ignores it and all the complaints.

J70%
by J####:

The main thing Startup Manager manages to do is startup an ad in front of my lock screen. About half the apps I clicked to not startup when I turned on my phone started anyway.

K70%
by K####:

Loaded up 1st time and laughed when I saw how small the icons and text are!!! Deleted it straight away. What a waste of data! Absolutely useless.

T70%
by T####:

This app used to work fine. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars, but something has happened to it lately. The UI has gone screwy. Everything is very small now, so it's difficult to use. I've switched to the All-In-One Toolbox app as a replacement.

T70%
by T####:

Due to horrible resolution management, fonts are so small, it's unusable. Apparently the dev is still learning how to program for Android. Can't comment on functionality as it is unusable even with a large magnifying glass.

T70%
by T####:

App seems to work well but I have recently had a problem I cannot read the list of apps and don't yet know how to get around this problem. I have otherwise been happy with it.

I70%
by I####:

The print is so small and the radio buttons so small and far away from the app names to be all but useless. This could have been a good app. Why don't you fix it. I've got a 5.6 inch screen. If I can't see it or reliably operate it how could someone with a smaller screen? I'm thinking about uninstalling it and replacing it with another app.

T70%
by T####:

I went into system apps and blocked all system apps from starting up. I lost total use of phone. I had one heck of a time turning on my phone. Buttons would do nothing. Almost lost use of my phone. App dev should not include critical startup apps in list to check off. There is a warning, Manage apps that you only know well. How many of us know all those startup apps that well, which ones are critical to startup and which ones can be safely blocked from startup? Be VERY careful with this app!! Or else!

This Little blue guy is worth a lot more than 3.8, and he certainly doesn't deserve the trash talking! I'm seriously considering the possibility you're at the wrong review, I don't think you'd like the only alternative I had in mind. I found the AllinOne Toolbox way more detail oriented than the Startup Manager. But it has many functions I couldn't do without, so I read the whole manual! Piece of cake! And I had a tremendous System problem. Not Anymore!! Thank You Guys!! I Love Your Wonderful App!! Much KUDOS!!!!

awesome except nothing on the user or system are touchable... I should leave this review exactly as is. the guy is useing black check boxes on black.... no one can see that! a checkbox should not be unseeable... wow lol. anyways works, but the above is plain stupid. black on black, lol lol you are a funny guy

DOESN"T WORK. I'm running with Android 6.0 (Mashmallow), which completely doesn't work. I disabled the apps in this app UI, and rebooted my phone, the apps I disabled still started. So I go into this app UI and check again, these apps are still in the disabled list. Useless...

Once your device is rooted. This app does the task exactly as described. It will may your phone snappier and save little battery after stop a few wasted apps that you don't want to run at start up.

Running the latest android os and after boot up I go to my app manager and apps still running and they are downloaded apps not system apps well it just doesn't work . Sorry and bye.

H70%

What I would like to see is a way to auto start an app in a background or minimized state. Could I possibly do that by listing the home screen as the last option? At any rate, I'd pay for an app that could do that. Cleaner apps make my phone unresponsive during periods of stand by so I am afraid of them. I don't want to pull my battery in an emergency.

E70%

I needed to disable some apps from bootstrap sequence (e.g., disable Whatsapp's autostartup feature, which cannot be disabled in-app). Unfortunately, it didn't work. Tried disabling everything, but everything continued autostarting up at bootstrap! It says apps are disabled, but all of them continue being loaded at startup. Many apps don't show up on list. Also, Startup Manager itself cannot be disabled! Why would it need to run at starup, once whateverelse would be disabled? Fishy!

T70%

Superb app! it helps to get rid off troublesome apps running in the background. We hate ads kill em all :-)

I know it may have worked for some but certainly not for me. And I'm rooted on an s5 ?

K70%

Incredible. This app actually FIXED a problem with my phone in that it would not start some apps that were in the start up 'menu'...e. g. my speakerphone app and my third party msg app... Just installing Startup Manager fixed that problem!! Then I was able to add a few apps to startup I want to always run (e.g call filter) as well as disable a bunch that I didn't need to run, thereby speeding up boot. Simply works, and you do NOT need to root your phone.

Works totally fine & does the job well. Reading some previous negative comments - can't imagine how thick the person should be to go and block all the SYSTEM processes and then blame the app developers for his own stupidity.

Y70%
by Y####:

This app does not prevent apps from autostarting, this app only delays the autostart until after the system has booted to decrease boot time, as soon as the system boots the autostart apps start running. This app does decrease boot time but ultimately does not prevent autostarting apps from eatting your RAM, monitoring your location, or accessing other personal information. I will give credit for spoofing the task manager, to the untrained eye it might seem like this app is doing its job but it is NOT!

N70%
by N####:

Dont waste your time on this. My boot time went down 3 seconds at best. Worthless and waste of space.

T70%
by T####:

Definitely worth the non-invasive ads. If you know what you are doing, it can maximize you battery life. I last caclulated mine at 144+ hours idle after running for 11 hours. Be careful however, as key phone components can be knocked out with this tool, requiring a factory reset to fix.
