About Swarachakra Hindi Keyboard

Swarachakra Hindi (स्वरचक्र हिंदी) is a touch-screen keyboard for inputting text in Hindi. (For Marathi please use Swarachakra Marathi and for Konkani please use Swarachakra Konkani. Swarachakra is also available in Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Bengali and Tamil.) Swarachakra uses a logically ordered design based on the structure of Devanagari. Swarachakra displays the consonants sequenced according to the logical structure of Devanagari, phonetically grouped and arranged in a grid similar to those found in most school textbooks.
Typing with Swarachakra
In Devanagari, we frequently need to type a combination of a consonant (ध) and a matra (ो) like ध + ो = धो. When you touch a consonant, a chakra with combination of consonants and 10 frequent matras pops up (धा, धि, धी, धु, धू, धे, धै, धो...). The chakra gives a preview of the possible character combinations. To select a combination, you slide the stylus or finger towards it.
Typing conjuncts like क्रि, स्थ, च्य is particularly hard for most people. Swarachakra makes it easy. First tap on the first part of the combination and select the halant from the chakra (स + ्). Swarachakra then shows a preview of all possible conjuncts that begin with that consonant (स + ् + त = स्त; स + ् + थ = स्थ etc.). If you need to add a matra, select it from the new chakra like earlier (स्था, स्थि, स्थी, स्थु, स्थू...).
To type a rafar (र्थ), a rashtrachinha (ट्र) or a nukta (ड़, ख़), first select the corresponding key from the right-most bottom keys, and then type as usual.
Complete vowels (अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ) appear in a separate chakra on the bottom right. The less used vowels and matras are next to it (ऽ, ऑ, ृ, ऋ, ॄ, ॠ, ॆ, ॊ, ॅ, ॉ). Numerals, symbols and rarely used characters appear on a shift. You could also switch to the QWERTY keypad temporarily to input English characters.
Installing Swarachakra
First, install Swarachakra Hindi by clicking the “Install” button above.
Next, you need to “enable” the keyboard. To enable, open “Settings”, select “Language and Input” and check the box in front of स्वरचक्र हिंदी (Swarachakra Hindi) in the “Keyboard and input methods” section.
Finally, click on the “Default” option in the “Keyboard and input methods” section, and select स्वरचक्र हिंदी (Swarachakra Hindi) as the default keyboard. (Sorry, but that’s how Android works)
NOTE: Swarachakra is designed for Android 4.0 (ICS) onwards. It does not work right now on older versions because they do not have Unicode support.

बहुत ही अच्छी एप है । जितनी प्रसंशा की जाये उतनी कम है बहुत ही सरलता से, अतिसिघ्रता से हिन्दी लिखना आसान कर दिया है । इससे अच्छी एप सायद ही हो यदि इस के साथ *शब्द कोष (Dictionary)*भी जुङ जाए तो चार चाँद लग जाएगें । बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद

board have not auto correction of words.after writing any wrong words,only shown red underline the word, not shown right words option.no displayd personal saved dictionary.

swarchakra hindi keyboard adbhut awam akalpaniya hai, i most like it. iska nirman karne wali iit team ko koti koti dhanyawad. mb ke bajay kb mein itana adhik upyogi aur variaty uplabdha karana sach mein kabil a tarif hai. kuchh kamiyo ko dur karke ise ek sarvottam hindi keyboard banaya ja sakta hai, jaise english keyboard mein sabdon ka salah na dena avam spelling ka correction show na karna etc.

for hindi typing it does is a life-saver, though the effect it has on english keyboard is not a welcomed one. suggestions and autocorrect gone :( Also, to use half a च,न and other is not clear.

बाकी सब ठीक है, but to use this app you have to be well versed with the language as there is no word suggestions or auto compete. The app is very well designed and after using it for awhile things get easier and easier. It is a must have for advanced hindi users.

I found the Swarachakra tool really useful and intuitive tool for local language input. Although I would like to point out that I could not locate the input for सॉ (as in saw) or सॅ (as in sack). These are useful matras when we write english words using devanagri.

This is awesome, natural and easy to use for hindi.. Please enable swipe for english and auto corrrct and case options for english, then i can start using this as full time keyboard. i csn pay for it if these features get available. Also it will be great if you can provide option to choose other indian languages like Kannada with the similar swara chakra concept.

स्वरचक्र में व्यंजनों के चारों तरफ़ मात्राओं की जो व्यवस्था है वो अनखी तो है ही पर साथ ही भारतीय लिपियों के लिये बहुत उपयुक्त भी है। इसे देख कर ये लगता है कि ये उपाय किसी ने पहले क्यों नहीं सोचा।
