About Mikrotik Dude Android Client

Any one who uses Mikrotik's The Dude NMS and an Android phone should give this app a try.

You can view network maps, View current outages, acknowledge outages, You can have it run in the background checking your Dude server for outages. In the event of an outage it can alert you via notifications. You can also setup notification hours of when you want to receive a notification of an outage and when you don't. You can also get it to alert you if there was a problem connecting to the Dude server. You can customize many other settings. Also includes in app help.

Give it a try with no obligation. There is an in app purchase of a one year subscription. This comes with a 10 day free trail. If this app isn't for you just cancel the subscription before the 10 days are up.

Update:
**The Dude version 6.x is not supported**
Mikrotik have removed the web server from the Dude version 6.x. As there is no other way to communicate with The Dude server this means this app will not work with that version.

As soon as Mikrotik re-add the web interface or create an API for communication with the Dude I will update this app to include this.

Due to the aggressive responses to others from the developer, I believe that this is a direct reflection on what problems will arise in the future with the developer. Apparently the developer doesn't understand that " the customer is always right" these people felt they were tricked into this subscription thing to get a 10 day trial, and you respond with insulting responses. You were probably better off just simply not responding. Two things I know are funny, I simply installed the app just to write the review and 2. I don't think Mikrotik would of allowed you to use Thier Dude logo? But I'll check into that for everyone. There may be a copyright infringement here as well. I await your insulting response! BTW 10 days is way too short. I literally considered buying your app , but your attitude just blows. Now I need to find something else to buy with my $30 in gift cards from Christmas. Thanks

Best NMS class!!

App does not appear to use The Dude proprietary connection protocol and instead relies on the web functionality -- which has been discontinued in The Dude. This unfortunately makes the app effectively no longer relevant or useful.

The recurring annual fee is a tad high. As I have not tested it thoroughly in fairness have to grade it as 3 stars.

I guess I should have looked to see if it supported version 6 before i bought it. as I have ccr running dude now.

It works as described and is a refreshing change from the web interface, but it's debatable if its worth $11 a year. The "license checker" causes a huge lag when you start it up. To its credit, I haven't seen a better Dude client for android.

Unlike some of the other reviews I understood the trial process and didn't hesitate to purchase. We're running two Dudes currently the old 4.x Beta and the new 6.x Router OS version (which we are migrating some 4000 devices to) Sadly the new RouterOS version doesn't support HTTPS or HTTP and I was unable to test, I'll be sure to check back when it has more native support if this is on the cards..? Tested with our older Dude and it's a good app, works (mostly based on limited testing) as advertised. Not sure about the subscription model, but not sure how else you would encourage development for a specalised / bespoke product that doesn't have a huge market. So would definitely purchase for my team if relevant to the new version even if I don't support the model. The tool is good and a must have if NMS is what you want and Dude 3.x 4.x is what you use. Keep up the good work and let us know when you're on 6.x and you'll get 1-2 subscriptions for our team!

Best Dude android client on google play store. All of the other bad reviews are done by people who have not even tried the app. If your not willing to pay for the app then don't download it!!

Just because you wasted my time

To force users to pay up front for something advertised for free on the store is borderline fraud. I feel that this is an attempt to circumvent the Google Store payment system.

Extremely useful app. Definitely the only choice for monitoring the Dude with an Android device. I see a lot of negative reviews in relation to the payment but for me it's well worth it in that I am constantly aware of the state of my network. I recently reacted to a core device outage within 10 minutes. Without this app it would have gone unnoticed until the following day.

I'd like to see some more development on this app, but it's off to a good start! Right now my biggest request would be to allow the user to pick a custom sound for outrage alerts.

Y70%
by Y####:

Nope. Not gonna give my CC details just to test an app. That's quite retarded.

H70%

Buying a useful app is not a problem, but a subscription? Count me out. Edit re dev's response: At least for me, a review does not only consider the app. Payment options is a part of the package, and when it's not even possible to test the app without agreeing to subscribe to it (granted, with the option to cancel later), then for me the app value is 1 star. If a free, no-strings trial version was available, perhaps more people would review the app itself.
