The system of tapping out morse code using the paddle system that you have in this trainer is very good. I have tried out other morse code trainers and none of them have come upto the mark so far. Since you already have a good system of accepting morse code into your trainer, the next logical step would be to provide a keyboard with the same sytem. It will be a hit, I guarantee it!
I love it. Have wanted to learn morse since I was a kid. Am having issues with sound on my tablet. Seems that first 2 sounds are played then no Morse sound, but get the ding for correct transmit of letter. Having fun doing my own Morse sounds though.
I learned to transmit the whole alphabet and numbers (not symbols though) in just a few hours using this. My buddy and I have been texting each other in dots and dashes since yesterday. I have just begun to practice receiving and it is more difficult due to the speed but this app is great practice for it. EDIT: I am weirdly efficient at learning things so it may take you more than a few hours. App is still great though!
I really can't think of any way to improve on this app... it's great. So simple, and yet so powerful. And free! Actually, there is a discrepancy between the hand book and the app. Handbook says apostrophe is .----. but app expects .---. couple years on that discrepancy still not fixed.
//p.s. Learn one letter at a time Starting with... E, T, A, O, I, N, S, R, H, D, L, U, C, M, F, Y, W, G, P, B, V, K, X, Q, J, Z, 1, ect...// Amazing trainer, and testing, the ONLY reason I want to learn Morris Code is to make input to my phone faster, more reliable, and not have to look at the screen as I type. This program teaches and lets you do that! BUT, Only in that program, need to add a one button keyboard into the program so it can be used with other programs!
This app is great for learning, but don't turn down the speed! When u turn it down u start to count the dits and dahs when it should just be something u hear. I learned with it turned up to 30 wpm, it was hard, but it makes reading a lot easier. Good luck! :)
The app is almost perfect, seems to be the best available of its kind available for Android. Only problem is there seems to be a noticeable bias in the letter transmit tests. I do a drill of 75 items at level 16 and get P only once! Lots of obvious bias to G and A which appear dozens of times instead. I've done the drill a few times and it's really obvious.
I always wanted to learn morse code but it was intimidating. This app makes it so easy. You can choose between different styles of training, and the app itself takes up barely any space on my device. Highly recommend it.
really push you. The letter game, is like answering a blank. The word game is challenging, teaches you to follow what is d orignal. I would like to request interco flags and thr meaning, boxing the compass, lights and day shapes.. ")
Nice Morse code app... but it desperately needs a "sound off" option. The sound is very shrill and annoying, and there's no way to remove it without turning off the phone's sound.
It is the best app to learn Morse code on Google play, I have downloaded all the others and they are not as good. I would like to see Morse chat rooms where you can practice with other people.
Essentially useless for really learning to receive the Morse code. The tones generated are so very mushy with attack and decay times greatly exaggerated making the lessons rather pointless as you will never hear such stylistic code any where.
I learned the whole alphabet in 3 days, practicing words to 50% efficiency took me about 2 weeks. I have no idea, how long would it take to learn Morse without this app. Still, recognizing and listening to Morse is way more difficult than transmitting ;-).
I really like the option to incrementally increase the letter pool that is being practiced. The only reason I don't give it 5-star is due to poor feedback when I get a character wrong. This isnt much trouble until you try to speed up your WPM. It really needs to display what pattern it thinks you tapped when you get it wrong. There were many times I would swear up and down that I did it correctly and I couldn't figure out where in the sequence I was going wrong.
Too bad it doesn't actually teach you Morse code, you have to go to handbook and remember the codes your self. It's more like a testing trainer not a teaching trainer. UI is a bit out-dated but quiet understandable since it works on even earlier version of Android.
Would give full stars as this free app works well for the transmitting mode, but I hit a bug in the receiving mode: when I start the receiving, only one character is played and it doesn't go on. But when I submit the result it acts as if a lot of characters were played, so it is basically unusable for receiving tests.
I don't write reviews often, but I really liked this app. I couldn't sleep one night and learned the whole alphabet and numbers 1-10 in only a couple hours. This app made it simple and easy.
I love this app and will rer are to 5 stars when fixed. Currently when transmitting "words" it will error immediately after first letter. I tried Uninstall and reinstall with no luck. This section used to work just fine.
Tones are inconsistent in length, spacing between letters and words sometimes nonexistent. Could be my phone (S7). Completely unusable. Need to be able to speed it up
Somthing like when you recieve i would like it to chat down the dots then ill have to translate it... its hard to catch up the beeps
It doesn't have some of the bells and whistles that other morse tutors have but it's actually very good at what it does which is teaching you morse code and more importantly allowing you to practice it. It is the ONLY morse code tutor that allows you to practice sending as well as receiving (a vital facility absurdly missing in even the most expensive morse code tutors out there) so full credit to the dev for doing the full job and not just the receiving half of it like everyone else. Nice work.
Learned to send Morse in one night. The word dictionary seemed rather limited. Would also like to have an option to practice receiving words, rather than random letters.
I really like this app. I learned the alphabet in just an afternoon with the Transmit trainer. I'd give a 5-STAR rating but I find the 'Receive' trainer more cumbersome to use. I wish it executed the same as the Transmit trainer. I.e. I don't like that it switches screens to give you feedback on your answers. And then you have to hit the back button on your phone, then hit the new button and then play. The text is also too small. I think it should look similar to the Transmit trainer.
You need a sheet with morse code letters in front of you to practice at first, because the handbook provided here can't be accessed while listening, but with that out of the way this app makes it very easy to get the hang of it. You can choose what letters to practice on and increase difficulty at your own pace. The input method is also very easy. This is the best morse code app I've found so far.
Already got A-M memorised in a couple of days. Some suggestions: as the levels increase: (a) slowly decrease the time the correct 'ding' is shown; (b) increase the frequency of the 'new' letters compared to the ones already learned; and for the last 5 or so levels, preview the next letter to prepare for the speed with which you need to sequence letters to make words. When incorrect, the colour stays red instead of returning to white to know you can try again.
The trainer is great. It walks you through the alphabet, adding a new letter as you progress. You can flip to the cheat sheet at any time if you need to.
Thanks for the fantastic app! This free app is great and highly effective: I've mastered the alphabet (transmitting) after just a few days. I do have a feature suggestion: Current behavior after missing a letter 3x is a flash screen with the proper code—but then the app switches directly to a new letter. I think it would be more useful to immediately quiz that missed letter 1x–3x to provide instant reinforcement. I can't really tell if the quiz algorithm is simply random or some version of "spaced repetition", but if the former, I'm sure the latter can be implemented in some primitive form without too much effort. There must be open source libraries... Thanks again, love the app, will recommend!
Great app size and excellent training, I learn almost all words in one night
Plays first letter of it's sequence, then stops; won't continue or even repeat. Utterly useless. (& apparently, I'm far from the first to point this out, so the fix, if there is one, does not seem to be a high priority).
Repetition, repetition, repetition. That's how you learn Morse code. Simple and useful app.
Once I figured out how to make it send code practice my decoding ability improved a lot. Now I look forward to practice.
Awesome app, helped me practice a lot. Can you also make a morse keyboard using the pad interface like in this app?
I used this to learn morse code, and it really helped me, it took my about 3 days to actually be able to send and receive properly. I really recommend using this app. It's very easy to use!
Very nice app. Of course it lags a bit on a phone but that has nothing to do with the app. This is good to learn. I wish there would be an option to increase the speed in letter training. The next left should come much quicker to let less time to 'think'.
I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get it, but the file size is smaller than 1mb. They pack a great app into that much storage, and I can do some morse code now. If you want to learn Morse, get this app NOW.
Sorry for the 3 stars. Was working fine in my previous LG optimus black but not Woking properly in my new xiaomi redmi 1s, after first beep it goes silent, no sound after that for the dots and dashes other sounds are playing ok like the "ting" success sound and the fail sound. please fix.
Downloaded it for curiosity about Morse and in two hours I learned a new alphabet (almost completely) great for learning and practicing. Fun app for entertainment!
I learned in 6 hours flat. Very cool application, straightforward. I also dont have any bugs to report. I do syggest the pad to transmit be bigger or resizable. Sometimes it goes dead when i tap near the edge or too fast and my whole word is ruined. Otherwise great application.
Should have a visual reference during practice mode? Don't like having to goto my. Textbookback and forth

I knew nothing about morse code. Downloaded it last night, and now I can most of the alphabet. The trick is to start with only one letter (look it up in the handbook), and train that letter until you know it, then add another letter, check it up in the handbook, and do that until you've "unlocked" the whole alphabet. I don't get people who say they find it hard to train with this app ("because you'd have to check up the Handbook all the time"), but that's because they maybe try to learn the whole alphabet at once. Pls, do it in baby steps, like I did, and you'll actually learn pretty fast.
