About reddit offline

Download contents from reddit when you have Internet, and read them when you don't.

Everything in this app was designed with offline in mind. Being able to use this app when there's no Internet is the top priority when making any design decisions. It currently pre-downloads text posts, images (including gifs and imgur albums), and all comments, for offline use. You can also schedule the app to download at specified times.

This app is FREE and has NO ADS! The limited screen-size on handhold devices are too valuable to display ads.

This is a beta version, with lots of new features coming. Please visit /r/RedditOffline for discussions and feature requests.

Permissions explained for those on versions before Android M:
INTERNET: for syncing with reddit.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: to check whether you have Internet connection.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: save the cache files.
SET_ALARM: scheduled sync, so you can have it to download reddit every morning.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: so that scheduled sync feature can survive a phone reboot.

Thank you for this excellent app. Without a need to sign up I ALSO use this up to learn how to calm myself down, because I cannot reply to (and also write) some horrifyingly ignorant comments on Reddit.

U70%
by U####:

Great. I use it even when I have internet because it is so much snappier then other apps. BUT it freezes up when I first open it and causes my phone to freak out and not let me navigate away from it until its done showing just a blank screen for about 30 seconds. Very annoying when your alarm is going off and you can't stop it.

U70%
by U####:

Almost perfect. Just need support for flairs. That's the only caveat. Because of the lack of flairs it's difficult to browse /r/soccer as almost everyone has a team badge and they someone refer to their badge and it's difficult to determine which club they support without flair support. Please add that and I'll change my rating to 5 star. It definitely does deserve five starts but that lack of flair support is a big deal breaker for me.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is an amazing app in concept and very good in practice. A bit limited in options but overall can't complain much, it does what it says. Was pleasantly surprised with auto-download option with scheduling. I rarely write reviews but thought this one deserves it. I'm willing to come back and change the rating with how the app progresses.

U70%
by U####:

I really like this app, but sometimes the cached data is deleted within 24 hours. Not sure if it is a bug as I have delete cache set to never, but it is annoying.

by U####:

Recently, I had to go somewhere with nothing to do for hours. I planned ahead on what I was going to do when I was there, and wondered if I was able to read Reddit offline. I searched it, and this saved me from hours of boredom. I downloaded the top submissions from my favorite subreddits every couple hours up until I had to go, and I was pleased with how simple it was, how fast they downloaded, and how little glitches and bugs I ran into while using it.

U70%
by U####:

Absolutely fast! It has replaced my main reddit app. Wish the developer released the source code as there are some features that would really improve the usability, like increasing the limit on posts per subreddit we can download. Kudos on the developer for not monetizing thos app.

V70%
by V####:

My place has a slow and intermittent internet connectivity. This app has been such a life saver. I just put subreddits on download and browse through them later on.

U70%
by U####:

The idea behind it is nice. The fact it's ad-free is also a plus. However, the UI feels off putting. The animations looks clunky, even the whole downloading thing looks a bit unnecessarily complexed. For example, I started downloading by mistake and I didn't want to waste data, but I couldn't find anyway to pause the download besides forcing the app to close (maybe I'm too dumb atm to notice where it is). For someone who is not always connected to the Internet and do not want to waste a minute without spending it on reddit, then this app is for you. Nonetheless, it's not suitable as a standalone app but more as a complementary app, because there are several other reddit clients with far better UI and features. Oh and I almost forgot: there's no way to log into this app, so organizing your favorite subreddits is sort of a hassle and you're more of a stalker here since you can't comment, upvotes or post in any way. Therefore another reddit client is a must.

U70%
by U####:

Good app. Could you add the feature of adding more stories or articles to the download queue for each subreddit? So for example, one subreddit can have 25 articles downloaded and another can have 50. Also, when minimizing a comment, the writer of comment should be visible instead of "show this comment" only. Aside from these, it is a very good app.

U70%
by U####:

Works well, but wish I could edit the subreddit download amount without having to make a new one, also to search reddits so if I mess up a letter it would show the closest possible subs.

U70%
by U####:

Great app love that I can reddit and not need data. For future upgrades might I suggest a huge text option I like the large option but even bigger would be easier on the eyes at the end of a long day

T70%
by T####:

Absolute life saver. I eat through my mobile data like a fat lass at an all-you-can-eat so this has really helped shed some metaphorical pounds off my daily data usage. 10/10 would cashe again.

U70%
by U####:

Very convenient for my needs as I can read any story at any time. The user interface can be designed better though as I find myself clicking other things by mistake.

K70%
by K####:

Excellent app perfect for travel, by adding new subreddits you can change how many posts are donwloaded and what sort order which took me a while to find but is very useful

U70%
by U####:

Would give 5 stars if I could login with my reddit account and it syncs all my subscribed subreddits automatically when connecting to Wi-Fi (poll once an hour when on Wi-Fi for example).

C70%
by C####:

Truly deserving of a 5-star rating. I can no seamlessly Reddit offline with no ads or other distractions. It's also really easy to use. 10/10.

U70%
by U####:

I love the app! It does what it says it would do. I laughed at the "Yes, you are a special snowflake" near the rating option.

G70%
by G####:

Filled my entire gallery with crap. And unviewable photos.. Good concept .. But that ruined my phone

U70%
by U####:

Would probably give this app five stars if it incorporated some features from Alien Companion. It would be nice to vote for posts while still offline, then have the app automatically perform all actions when an Internet connection is available.

B70%
by B####:

It's really good but lately I can't access my settings and the entire app just freezes when I try to do so. Please fix!

U70%
by U####:

It works okay. But it doesnt always download eveything and I dont know why. Decent app regardless.

USES ALL YOUR DATA!! Was downloading while on wifi and the wifi disconnected.. few minutes later I get a call from my mobile company saying i am racking up data charges like crazy. STUPID APP COST ME 50 DOLLARS

Z70%
by Z####:

Good concept but still lacks some features to make it the best app: login, sync, votes, searchable subreddits etc

U70%
by U####:

Takes a really long time to open whenever I switch back to the app. Just shows a white screen for a while

X70%
by X####:

Ui sucks. r/ style subreddit link's don't work, can't preview link's or share them(preferably reddit is fun style), etc.

U70%
by U####:

THIS HELPED ME COMPLETE MY TRAINING. I AM NOW READY TO FIGHT FRIEZA. THANK YOU DEV.

U70%

Hangs on open, does not let you switch apps or go back to home. Samsung s8

U70%
by U####:

It serves its purpose..... But it's a bit limited that's why giving 4 stars...... It saves only few most popular subreddt and that's a downer. Nevertheless few subreddts that are available are downloaded pretty easily without bugs.

U70%
by U####:

Alright app. When downloading pages will sometimes get stuck with the download which is slightly irritating.

U70%
by U####:

Even though this application has space for much more potential it is the most stable reddit offline app I have used for years. Won't change to another app again.

U70%
by U####:

Suggestions: the ability to vote on comments offline, but they will count once you you go online. Also, the ability to share comments and posts. Great app overall :-)

U70%
by U####:

User front page please. Also more navigation options would be nice to have, like moving between posts when one is open and thumbnails on the list.

U70%
by U####:

Wow I just found this app. I really needed one like this. Now I can download my favorite subreddits at the library and take it home without using data.

U70%

Does exactly what it says and saves me a fortune on my data plan

Greata idea but has many stability issues

Maybe I just need a kindle or something, but Im hooked on apps like reddit, et al. Nosleep is my favorit subreddit. Great for helping me cope with insomnia! And.... I really didnt like the preset list. So I removed them all and made my own list. Its easy to do. Just enter the name of the subreddit you want. I also like the flexibility with settings. Very nice for my nerdiness. ;)
