Lost Data? Suddenly, LOST.DIR contains lots of files? It had been empty all the time! These files have no extensions, and numbers as names? And there's no program which opens them?
This app tries to restore the files in LOST.DIR.
Please note: "Restore" means to append extensions, according to the file type. The original file names cannot be restored!
How it works? Faulty file operations cause Android to try its best to save what can be saved: Blocks of data, which can no longer be assigned to the filesystem structure are not deleted, but saved in LOST.DIR, with numbers as file names.
IF YOU'RE LUCKY, these are complete (or truncated) files, whose types can be identified using the "magic number" contained in the first few bytes. After renaming an identified file - with the appropriate extension - it can be opened with the associated program.
So, these files can - at least partially - be restored. A restored file may even happen to be larger than the original file was, because the "files" in LOST.DIR always contain complete sectors. But most programs ignore "garbage" after end of file. Anyway, if no other backup is available, this is better than nothing...
This app automates the procedure described above. All files without extension are analyzed and - if identified - renamed accordingly.

Its showing identified files as 992 out of 1022 files, but renaming failed as 992x, i couldnt find any option to recover these 992 files also :-( Had thought demo will show and paid version recovers data, paid for the app in vain. Any help dev?

I am a photographer and for some unknown reason, my tablet has been acting crazy. Well, I did a maternity photoshoot today and when I went to upload the photos onto my tablet, they disappeared. Completely off of my memory card, no where to be found. It showed a folder called "Lost.dir" and wouldn't open any of the files. Luckily, I stumbled upon this app while searching everywhere for some cheap/free way to recover the files. This app did just that. Saved me from having to call the woman tomorrow to see if we could redo the whole session that she had already paid for. Thank you so much! Definitely worth the few dollars, saved me tons!!

It recovered 822 lost file out of 1022. But most of all my music was recovered. I have no idea how it got in the lost.dir folder and I was going crazy to find out how to recover them but thanks for the assistance.

I was looking for Windows apps to restore the pictures on a memory card. The compatible app for Windows was $40. This app effortlessly restored over 1,000 pictures and videos.

Paul helped enormously and we fixed my problem with using sd card (instead of internal storage). Worked perfectly, saved around 800 files out of 1000. I know I will need this again, next time I dismount / corrupt my SD Card. Thank you for the application!

It works! Managed to easily recover nearly all of my corrupted files. Was devastated when I thought I had lost photos of my baby son. Thankfully this app works! Lesson learnt and I now back up everything.

Should have backed up my files. Thought I might have lost my pictures and videos, the app helped restore them. The UI is very basic. All you do is navigate to the LOST.DIR directory, and click. The process is very fast. About 7 seconds or less for the ~700 files I had. Some files were corrupt, but this was expected and mentioned in the app description.

The files it recovered are just under 4gig and the phones internal storage only has 527mb left so unless your willing to delete apps (asuming that you've already moved pics ect to ex sd) that you can't move to your ext sd card, this could be a problem for you like it is with me. So pretty useless unless you have the space free. Looks like I'm in for a long night in front of the laptop doing it manually. Apart from that, it's a good app.
