EMPOWER (DEV)

EMPOWER offers a mobile app for Android devices that intends to help individuals in monitoring their diabetes disease. The application supports manual and automatic collection of Observations of Daily Living (ODLs), and in particular of the following: blood glucose, blood pressure, body weight, physical activity, nutrition, sleep sessions.

The application operates in standalone mode (offline), and in integrated mode with the EMPOWER framework (online). In the former case, the individual can make use of the application and collect ODLs, while not having access to the Internet. In the latter case, the mobile application gets synchronized with the web application of the EMPOWER project (www.empower-fp7.eu) which is a patient portal for diabetes self-management based on patients' individual Action Plans and collected ODLs. An extended set of graphs summarizing how the collected ODLs evolve over time are also available whenever operating in online mode. And also access to useful information about managing diabetes and nutrition facts.
