DaBus - The Oahu Bus App

This app used to be EXTREMELY convenient. Now that its been "updated", it doesn't work and it hasn't been working for a while now. The real-time estimates went from being 1-3 minutes accurate to being 5 minutes early (so the bus doesn't show up on the screen as it is assumed to have passed) to not showing any real-estimate times ("no data is available"). The scheduled times do not load either.

Very rarely does the real time arrival works anymore. It keeps saying "data not available". At most it only works when I'm on wifi, but even then it'll only work half of the time. But at the very least the pre-written scheduled arrivals are listed in the app.

Thebus has probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered they couldn't even offer me guidance to transfer busstops in order to get to my destination. The bus driver wouldn't even give me a complete response like I was a nuisance. I simply asked which bus number do I transfer to get to Ala moana. He said everything I need is on the back of the transfer.

This app fails outside of rush hour every time. In fact, that's the only time you can even remotely depend on it. East, west, north, south, failed signal...it's like they invented an app to please the masses that doesn't really help anyone because it's the outside times that help everyday users. Google isn't meant to be efficient, it's meant to advertise. So, next time your bus doesn't show up, blame it on that pos because they don't care about you getting home.

This app stopped working a couple months back. Now the only thing I get is "Data not available". So frustrating! This used to be the app I relied on for my entire day..now it's just crap. Doesn't work, don't waste time until something gets fixed.

I before when I first heard of this app, I would give it 3 stars at best. But after how many updates, it has gotten worse. Now this app keeps telling me half my buses are near South Africa in the middle of the ocean. It was at first quite funny , but this has been going on for 3 weeks, almost a month and it has got to be fixed.

Looks like it still gives some people issues getting the app to connect. That's troubling, but it works fine for me. Still looking forward to being able to manage and rename my favorite stops...

It seems like the times on the direct website are a bit more accurate than on this app. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Good thing is the bus stop bookmarks. Bad thing is that one whole day, this app failed to operate. I was unable to view any bus time arrivals. Overall, I like this concept. It could use some improvements here and there. I've been unable to view bus schedules. ***Suggestion: Personalise a bus stop name for convenience.

The real time arrivals never work. Always says data not available. Nothing about this app that makes it worth downloading. All you really get is the bus schedule and you can get that online. Save yourself data space and don't even bother with this useless app.

I thought this app would help find the best bus and route to take but I'm more confused. Should develop an app that allows you to input your destination and then it would give you the nearest stop and best destination. You practicality have to know the name of the destinations that DaBus actually uses-can't just put in a key word. And every time I navigate they this app it says Unfortunately this app has stopped. This app stops all the time. Wth! Please fix.

I get that bus times might not be accurate but that's not what I'm referring to. The app will tell me "null" or give me an error code half the time when looking for a bus. Not a reliable source of information for you OWN transit system. ****** UPDATE******* this app is terrible. Havent been able to use it in weeks. "No data available" or "null" error when searching for real time arrivals. Please hire someone who knows how to build an app

How the hell can a bus be arriving when it is approximately 1 mile far away from the bus stop going through traffic? And also this app needs a serious makeover to apply the new Google APIs and minimize the bugs in this app. The pop-up "data not available" app bug happens very often and this app is overdue for a fix and makeover. Same for the iOS version. You guys also need to make an app for Windows Phone.

Says a bus is coming but the bus either comes after the given time.... 10 to 20 minutes later or it comes early! So I end up missing da bus!! "Maybe I should leave earlier" is probably what one would say but thats not the point! Is this app not dedicated to helping people catch the bus?? You cant catch a bus if you dont know exactly when its coming! Can somebody please fix it so that the GPA tracking feature matches the REAL bus time arrival???

The times do not update, and if the bus is running 15 min late then they shut off the servers to avoid people complaining. Sware to god the bus system is ran by jews

The 2 out of 10 times the app actually works the bus isn't even on time. So many errors its ridiculous. You have it better off using google maps

"Failed to download data" error message for all stops and routes, regardless of cell or Wi-Fi connection. Time to reboot your tracking system or something. Please make it work again.

It's a good app, and surprisingly a little accurate. But what takes this down to 3 stars is the fact that a lot of times, "data not available", or when it says a bus is arriving, but comes many several minutes late or doesn't come at all. Please fix this.

It's ok,but- a lot of times it says Bus is "ARRIVING/ARRIVED/DEPARTED" when in reality the bus never shows up period! Then I am late for work!

Okay so just today I used the app after school to see when the next bus comes. It says that a 40 will be arriving in 10 minutes. I decide to walk to the next bus stop over so I can get on the 40 early that way I can find a seat and not be standing with a bunch of other people(it can get annoying) so about 10 minutes after I get to the next bus stop, a C goes passing by. The C doesn't stop at the bus stop that I was at but the really irritating part was that that C bus wasn't even on the schedule.

Half the time a bus does not show up when app says it is supposed (says bus came and left but was never there) and other time the bus comes when the app says it isn't supposed to be there. Do not trust it! It has disappointed me MANY times.

All I ever get now is "data not available". I've also had countless instances of waiting for a bus that's arriving only to see them pass by with "Not in service". Seriously need to work on your scheduling before trying to make an app that doesn't even function well. I get better data and arrival times with Google maps then with this useless app.

Pretty useless since all I'm getting lately is"data not available". So I'm back to simply a crap shoot. Disappointing! Apparently works on wifi but seldom on 4G on my Galaxy S5.

At first it worked GREAT!!...But, then all of a sudden it Stopped working yesterday. It no longer lets me choose the bus route OR show scheduled nor real time arrivals :/ can this please be fixed. DaBus App is a great help to me as I catch the bus to and from work and I work in town and cannot be late. I need to schedule everything and manage my time carefully, as I also have children. Thank you. I hope it is fixed soon.

so theres a pattern, its online in the morning till it hits 6pm in the afternoon it goes offline best app NA they are asking us to go home before 6 and they will not help during 7pm - till i guess 4pm this app will leave you stranded with wiered guys and you cant tell when your bus is here great app even apple users are having the same issue, BEST APP NA!!

Buses will sometimes mysteriously disappear and reappear from tracking minutes before they arrive, which can get very frustrating and guess-y. Also, if the wait time for the next bus is 15-25 minutes, be prepared to tack on at least an extra 5-10 minutes. Overall a good app and easy to use, but tracking definitely needs some work. (Also, despite how unreliable tracking might be, NEVER trust buses without it. Just don't.)

I used to depend on this app daily, and then I started getting null exception errors. Reinstalled, cleared local cache, tried on another phone. It's clear the one guy who maintains this service is either on a month vacation or has moved onto another position. Which is a shame, because otherwise this is a simple and fast way to get local bus data that is very accurate (except when the bus on their expected route is about to finish their shift abruptly, leaving you standing around for 40 minutes).

This app needs an update, ALWAYS when I need the schedule the most, I get a data error and can't check the real time arrival OR the scheduled arrivals. Absolutely infuriating.

On the fence with it, some times is accurate, other times just completely off. Sometimes, my bus says it's coming in 3 mins, all of a sudden it disappears. Not really dependable when I need. But still the best one out there.

Too many times am I trying to get real time arrivals & it results in error or crashes completely. Poor management of its updates and it's not even really that accurate. It can be off by up to 10 minutes...so you could be waiting for more than you think. Google maps is a generic but more reliable bus timeline - save your phone memory- this app ain't worth the space

Comes in handy, especially the real time bus tracking capability. When the app works, is great. Unfortunately, it crashes or returns some user unfriendly error message about 30% of the time.

I mean, really sux. This app is so damned inaccurate! Not only that, but half the time you can't even get it to pull anything up at all. Times change so erratically you might as well go by 'feel'! Don't ever try to pull up the times on a holiday, any holiday! Not sure what the root problem is, but I'm thinking there might be high-schoolers that could fix this disaster. It's similar to the Obamacare website debacle. A billion $ for a site that could've been done for $200.00!!!

Update 10.19.15 - I wish all busses had GPS, and I am frustrated when it says no data fpr the accurate bus information. Data is accurate and multi purpose is better than the online site and hea. Can you please make it so that we can reorder the favorite stops. The OCD in me wants to do this without deleting and favoriting over and over again....but that might just be me. Thanks!

I've had this App for a while. When I first downloaded this App it worked perfectly, but shortly after it started to malfunction. And now its malfunctioning all the time & its annoying. When ever I try to look up bus info I get a "Data not available". My data is not the problem as I'm able to Facebook & YouTube with no problems. ***Please fix this App or I will delete it as I don't need an app that malfunctions and taking up space on my phone.

Find nearby stop feature cannot even find you accurately so no help in getting to a stop. Cannot find a nearby stop filtered by route number. The upside is that once you stumble across a stop you can see when the next busses are due to arrive. Overall not much of an improvement over the static route schedule availible on thebus website.

In the mornings this app works great. Fairly accurate and good in a pinch. But in the afternoons and evenings it begins to send an error that reads "Data Unavailable" every time you try to access the estimated arrival times. And regardless of the time of day you can't access the scheduled arrivals screens. Please fix this app! Useless 50% of the time.

Update: this app has not been working for several days now. It looks like the backing service is down. Try Google transit instead even though it doesn't have gps..... The app itself is pretty good but the service backing it is useless. Trying to get real time arrivals times out at least 20% of the time. When it does it would be better not to have an app because you sit there refreshing hoping it will work but it doesn't. Check server load, check error logs, and then please make this app useful again.

This is absolutely the worst bus system app ever created. Doesn't work. Crashes often. Freezes. Real time data many times not available. I'd give it a zero stars if I could and that would be generous. I'd really like to know what people expect of the app to give it five stars. Your misleading The Bus. If you aren't honest they won't fix what they likely know in their heart is broken. But I guess it would have at one time had to work to be considered broken.

This app works perfectly most of the time but the all too frequent unexplained error messages come and ruin my day. The latest anomaly won't display any bus number arrival as the "data is not available". Is there a specific reason the requested data is not available? Is it my phone is it the app? An explanation would help soothe the annoyance.

I'll agree with everyone else with the "data not available issue" and add that it is insanely inaccurate. I regularly (maybe 30% of the time) wait for a bus with "no gps" that never comes. I've stopped checking it because of how infuriating it is. Google maps has a better understanding of the Hawaii bus routes than DaBus. Pathetic.

I know it will not work well, but it's not the app's fault. I'm reading everyone's review and laughing so hard. The bus system just needs some improvements. That's all. But having the app is better than trying to guess at those paper schedules. Still get one star, though. Need numbers on empty posts and need to improve the bus system in order to have a five star app.
