O aplicativo 9º digito foi idealizado com o objetivo de sanar as necessidades de adição de novo dígito nos números de telefones celulares. O novo dígito foi inserido em alguns estados brasileiros e a tendência é que seja inserido em todos, uma vez que, com o aumento do número de linhas celulares ativas, a faixa de números disponíveis está se esgotando. O aplicativo é capaz de aplicar filtros, de forma a selecionar os contatos que necessitam de alteração. Portanto, são excluídos da lista de contatos que necessitam de alteração os contatos que possuem DDI de outro país, telefones residenciais e, obviamente, contatos que foram salvos com o dígito. Além disso, o aplicativo é capaz de "observar" a lista de contatos e notificar o usuário sempre que houver alteração.
