Booksonic - Audiobook Streamer for Android
Can't connect to my reverse Proxy, because AES256 cipher suites are unable to connect. Any way you could allow any of these suites: Cipher Suites TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384 TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA ? I know Java does not support these by default.. Otherwise a great app!
App is great. Sometimes the position in the book is lost on restarts. After pausing the audio the battery seems to drain rapidly with background CPU usage time very highly.
Sync issues were my fault, drive letter and IP address had changed. Back to loving it :)
Really like the idea of an audiobook server, and have started to implement it, but am struggling with how to organize the server's files. Is there a help file or advice. I would like to divide the audobooks by genre, then author, then title. How many subdirectory levels is supported? Can you implement Genre's as a top level selection? I created sub-directories like "fiction" "Mystery" "sci-fi" . My family will be more into using this if they don't have to wade through titles they are not interested in. Thanks so much for your hard work.
Does what it says, however not really updated often. Would be great if you could fix a few issues specifically the one with using sleep timer making the app crash after the timer runs out.
I really am excited to see an audiobook version of the subsonic apps. One thing I really wish it had would be an ability to have variable speed with pitch correction on playback. I use Smart Audiobook Player a lot and I listen at 1.3x normally. I am not sure I can get used to listening to the audiobooks at a normal speed after doing it for so long at 1.3x. Otherwise I appreciate your efforts so far! The server works great too. I will need to tweak my metadata and album covers though. A lot seem to either not exist in my folders. Some of my mp3s have the cover in the metadata as well. Maybe the server does not look for them?
The UI is really quite terrible. I don't want to have the organization of my audiobooks based on the directory structure. I definitely don't want the tracks for my audiobooks sorted lexicographically by the title tagtag, especially if the numerical track number is available! It's interesting to compare this with Plex — they essentially know they are providing an alternative to Netflix sourced with private content, so they made their UI as similar to Netflix as possible. This app should look like Audible.
App does what it advertises but I am trying to figure out if my streaming sessions from the app can be linked by the web so I can play from webpage where I left off. The scraper on the server lays the information neatly and clean in the app. Very simple design, has more options than I expected and the developer listens to the people who purchase it.
Unfortunately I can't really use it on the road because I don't get a unique ip address from my provider.. Anyone know a way around that?
I would like chapter support for m4b files
~Would be great if you could use the metadata.opf files that calibre downloads. Because the metadata downloaded for Audiobooks is more often incorrect than not. Also could you tweak the booksonic server to auto resize images to fit, most overlap the text and I dont feel like resizing. :) great app! thanks
I'm super impressed with this app. I use in in-conjunction with a Booksonic server (forked from subsonic) and it runs beautifully. I've been looking to run a "Plex for Audiobooks" setup for a long time and haven't found something that works. Well, this does, and I love it. Thank you developer. I hope you keep going strong.
Very handy client to use with Subsonic server if you listen mostly audiobooks
The kids use this app to track their individual story progress. Also, they use it for Chromecasting to their playroom. Great app!

Configuring this app is a real headache if you aren't network savvy. I finally got to pull up by books on my android device but I cannot access them remotely which means if I'm away from the house I cannot stream or begin syncing new tracks to listen to later. I was pretty certain I read that the server allowed for remote access but I could be wrong.
