About Port Detective

Port Detective is a networking tool designed to detect open ports on hosts on the local network. The port scanner algorithm is speedy and capable of scanning 65535 ports in around five minutes on a single core processor.

This application also comes with a Port Encyclopedia, enabling the user to quickly look up what a certain port's function is. A local database is stored on the phone for defining ports, however there is also an option to look it up online for the most recent information.

Runs fine on my Nexus 7. It does indeed restart a scan each time the screen orientation changes. Surely this can be fixed in the next release?

Couldn't resolve any IP addresses that I can reach through a browser or any other app. Doesn't allow you to type in a domain name.

Only completed 10% of all 65535 ports in 5 minutes, and my Nexus 4 has four cores plus I was connected to the network both wirelessly and via my desktop through USB.

This is the best port scanner I think heck even the one in Windows won't do what this will thank you DEV

W70%
by W####:

Wow. Simple interface, live reporting of found ports, a progress bar, and works in the background. The only problem is the scan restarts when orientation changes.

O70%
by O####:

I ran several full scans of one system and every time the app got to certain ports it would stop scanning with a "Connection timed out" message. There was no indication which port caused the failure so rescanning gets to be tedious. I'll wait till the next update before I totally give up on this app. Galaxy s3 unrooted.

But unfortunately I have no idea how to work this app so rather than give a 1, a 3 is fair. Hopefully I'll figure it out as and adjust my rating to help the other laypeople out there hoping to protect their devices.
