A small app which will calculated the Sunrise and Sunset each day at 01:30 AM based on your current location then if it detects the phone being used in car mode and the time is after sunset will turn the night mode on. During day hours it set the phone to day mode, this can help drivers in countries where lights have to be always switched on, since that puts the phone into night mode. This small app will override that and you should have proper day mode during the day regardless of the car headlights being switched on or off.
During night hours if your headunit doesn't have the proper sensors this app will make sure that your device actually switch to night mode.
The app is running like a service and will start automatically at boot, it has not settings or anything else.
Once installed open it up, after around 30 seconds you will see the calculated Sunrise/Sunset values in the notification bar.

Continues data sending, the app should re-send the correct day/night theme every 500 ms, making sure that even if headlights turns on or off (in tunnels, or at later stage) the theme is very quickly set back to the correct one.

Loved this app. It worked exactly as intended. However, it no longer works on my Nexus 6 - my headlight switch has taken control of my night mode again. I hope a fix is coming soon!

I am modifying my earlier review... It seems to behave as advertised after you enable the developer options for the app and then set it for app control.

Works great on 5.0 and going to try it on 7.1. Be sure to go into developer mode in android auto and change it to Phone-Controlled instead of car.

Just got a new car and i learned about the auto android by playing with the settings, using Google maps at night time was hurting my eyes and also dangerous. Searching online I found this app plug-in I'm extremely happy

I'd give this app more stars if I could. I drive with my headlights on during the day and my display toggled to night mode which msde it difficult to see in bright daylight. Setting it to bright caused problems at night time. Then... along came this app. It solved my problems. Works as it says. Full credit to app support. Quick, friendly problem solving. Thanks.
