Calculates and checks simply supported Wood Beams. An excellent tool for field calculations or preliminary structural design. Load options include a uniform load and a point load. Minimum beam depth is determined based on Fv, Fb and deflection criteria. Preset values are provided for Load Duration Factor (Cd) and NDS wood design values for Douglas-Fir #2 and other common species. Presets for engineered wood as well: Glulam, Parallam and Microllam.

Probs: No LRFD analysis method Which is where wood is headed. Point load can't be zero. Needs tributary width with loads in psf instead of plf which unnecessarily make user have to precalc loading. Also needs non-uniform and triangular loading. Would be great to add standard lumber size presets.

Works as advertised. Thanks for making this calculator . I might not fully understand the point load section design theory
