About Cubiculum Musicae Lassus
This application is designed as a complement to the Cubiculum Musicae Lassus installation, an audiovisual immersive environment offering an entirely new listening experience of a composition by Roland de Lassus (c. 1532-1594). The lyrics of this piece (Musica, Dei Donum Optimi) pay homage to music; a theme also illustrated inside the Cubiculum by the painting The Sense of Hearing, a joint work by the Flemish artists Jan Brueghel the Elder and Pierre Paul Rubens. The installation will be exposed in the framework of “Mons 2015: European Capital of Culture”.
The application allows users to interactively explore the musical composition, the composer's biography and Brueghel and Ruben's painting.
Numerous pop-ups help users:
- Discover sixteenth-century musical notation
- Learn Renaissance musical terms
