Edit: Nope. I had a pop after about 10 minutes of testing. Why could my 10 year old galaxy mini play music with no problems, but now, even after a factory reset, my S4 won't stop popping? It's driving me nuts. I had to switch from HikiPlayer after it became a nightmare of skipping and popping. So far Beam Player doesn't seem to have these problems, but I reserve the right to re-evaluate later, as it does not have audio buffer options. I would also like to see a "folder repeat" option, instead of just a "track repeat." It sucks when the music just "ends", and you're in a position where you're squished into the subway and can't easily pull out your phone and look through your list. May folder players never die. Metadata is the work of the devil.

Seems like a great app but does me no good since all of my music is stored on my SD card

Loved this player so much I bought it. But since upgrading my phone to lollipop, the player cuts tracks off. Part way through a track, the player will skip to the next song. I've had to switch to another media player as this now lacks basic functionality. Please fix!

by Z####:

Constructive criticism: Needs an option to enable lock screen controls with sensitive notifications hidden. Also needs a more intuitive and user-friendly way of accessing SD card files, as it is currently difficult, but not impossible to locate the SD card file location within the directory structure (hint, it is NOT the one labelled "sdcard"). Fix these two issues, and it is a five-star program.

Just what I needed. A no thrills music player with a simple yet effective menu. It gets all the basics right, and doesn't sacrifice basic features for better looks, like many other music players. There is a bug with out of app playing (outside of the app, the music occasionally cuts off and needs to be started manually), and the buttons on the UI are sometimes laggy and unresponsive, but both of these problems are very rare. With a tiny bit of tweaking by the developer, this could be a truly wonderful mus

Folder based playback allows me to play what I want when I want. Good simple interfaces and great control. Well worth the $ 1.29. THANKS!

Cuts off songs a few minutes in- if you're into prog or any music of substance beyond 5 minutes, look for a different app. I tried various settings to fix this issue, none came to any avail.

X70%

Useless. I thought I would love it - it's just what I want, a folder-based player. One of the rare cases when I was willing to pay for the app. Unfortunately, it ONLY SHOWS FOLDERS IN THE INTERNAL MEMORY. It doesn't show folders in the sd card at all. :(

Very good job, thanks. I like the clean design and focus on folders. Some things I'd like to have in the player: - Possibility to add whole folders to favorites (on long press, next to 'play' maybe?). connected with this - long press on .m3u file doesn't add anything to the favorites although it is enabled. - Add 'what to do' at the end of a folder or playlist: stop / repeat / next folder. - Disable the 'exit yes / no' window when back button is pressed in top folder or playlist (especially because it is not possible to see in which level i am currently in). With these it would be perfect for me :-).

I should have read the reviews unfortunately this app doesn't read from external sd only devices internal. Smart Ultra 6 and Moto G at least won't work from external sd card.

I really did want to like this player. Unfortunately, there are a few too many issues for it to be truly usable. On the surface of it, it appears to be exactly what I wanted: a no-frills media player that sorts by folders (my preferred method) and supports playlists (which are confusingly called "favorites", but whatever.) However, the app has a few bugs that make it pretty much unusable, for me at least. First, it can't seem to get a proper wake-lock on the phone. That is, after a few minutes, the music just cuts out, and I have to wake the phone up manually to start it again. Maybe this is specific to my phone, but I can't seem to figure out what's causing it. Second (and this is really the main issue) the app appears too have some form of gapless playback enabled by default, and there's no setting to disable it. Furthermore, the particular implementation of gapless playback cuts off the last couple seconds of every track, which is extremely jarring unless the track happens to have a lot of whitespace. Given the kind of music I listen to, I really don't mind whitespace, and the inability to turn off this gapless playback is incredibly frustrating.

My new favorite music player. Nice, clean, lightweight, beautiful interface. Uses folder structure so you don't have to mess around with tags. Plays flac. Only a dollar.

Clean and effective. Would like to see an update that allows the player settings such as repeat and random to be left on or off according to the last used setting. And the ability to default to folder view would be nice. Worth the price. Add those two options and I will give it a five star. Thanks.

This is a wonderfully simple app for browsing and playing music that is organized. I use my Nexus 7 in my car with a hard drive connected to it, so I need a player that does not need to index my collection. This app is perfect for this because when you are selecting music to play, it displays your files like a file manager, and only reads tag info when you are playing a song. Interface is very clean and attractive. Controls are simple. Developer is receptive and responsive. If you want a full-featured music app that manages and indexes your media, connects to the web for artist info and lyrics, and provides recommendations to similar music, you might want to look somewhere else, or reconsider what you are looking for. This is a clean, simple, no-nonsense music player, and nothing else.
