About High Brightness Mode Widget
This handy widget will make your screen up to 20% brighter than the highest brightness setting at the touch of a button. HIgh Brightness Mode Widget uses a hidden hardware setting to unleash the full potential of your AMOLED screen.

Can't see your screen in the bright sunshine? Simply add the widget to your homescreen and click it to turn high brightness mode on or off.
Double click the widget to enable auto mode, which will automatically turn high brightness mode on or off depending on the brightness of your surroundings.
As an added bonus, the widget maintains high brightness mode even if you turn your screen off and on (and even across reboots!)
On Android 7.0 (Nougat) you can add an HBM tile to your quick settings.

Edit - working fine after simply reinstalling the kernel. Yay! Rating updated to 5* Posted earlier - Hi Flar2. I am using ElementalX kernel 1.03 on my Pixel XL which is rooted (supersu 2.79-SR3) and with TWRP RC1. Still the widget, when tapped or double-tapped, says- Not Compatible or not Rooted! The app has been granted root privileges as confirmed by the toast message and in SuperSU app. This is the second time I have purchased this app (the first time also it hadnt worked, and I had been refunded my money even tho i had not asked for it).

Auto brightness on quick tile not working. Seemed fine on 7.0, but after upgrading to 7.1.1 and now 7.1.2, auto brightness on the quick tile isn't working. HBM is either manually turned on or off. Been rooted and running Elemental kernel (now v 1.09)...no change. Auto brightness on widget IS working, but I don't want to setup a widget when a QT should do the job.

Update: worked well for awhile. After a few days it would turn off and on by itself. I uninstalled and now screen brightness is stuck at extra bright. I uninstalled and ran system cleaner. Reinstalled my kernel but still stuck. Update: Works after switching to Sultanxda kernel! Thanks for the response. Used to work on 7.0 but not working with 7.1.1. Really wish it would. I really like this.

Works great on my Google Pixel XL running flar2's ElementalX kernel version 1.0 and using his EX Kernel Manager. Now my Pixel can get just as bright as my Note 3/4/5 and Moto X Pure phones did.

Glad I came looking for this. Just one thing though, I can't get auto HBM to work. I'm sure it's something dumb I'm doing but double tapping does nothing for me. How high of a Lux reading does it need to activate? Running Pixel XL with Franco Kernel, rooted of course. Edit: I already tried before asking about it here, used my Nexus 5 flashlight and a 100w lightbulb. I haven't actually needed it since its been cloudy everyday but if I have issues in the Sun I'll let you know.

Holy cow, I usually don't do reviews but this is by far the best .99 I've paid for an app. My Nexus 6 is probly 25% brighter now when I need it!

I've never had any complaints. This app is very helpful even on OnePlus 3, but lately I've noticed according better battery stats its been using sensors for for 6 hours when phone is asleep. Over an hour through 10 hour period of all deep sleep with doze on it. If its not a bug ok, otherwise please fix

flar2, one question: how can I get HBM to stick after turning the screen off? No matter what I do, it always reverts to standard brightness after leaving the screen off for more than 1 minute or so. Interestingly enough, if I turn on the screen seconds after turning it off, HBM stays on. What gives?

Good widget. I bought this a while back, like that it has a qs tile node now. Note: The qs tile feature gets a state mismatch though when turning the screen on and off (Nexus 6). I'm not sure if there's a way to make the tile either query the sysfs node on screen on them either the was tile display the correct state, or re-write the desired state to the sysfs node. Either of these would be preferable.
