About Phone to Tablet Remote
Control music playback on one Android device from another Android device. You can even browse playlists from the other device. All without leaving the comfort of your sofa! Phone to Tablet Remote is the best Android-to-Android media remote control.
It works with AIMP, Amazon Music, Apollo, Apple Music, BlackPlayer, Deezer, Default Music Player, Equalizer Plus, Google Play Music, HTC Music, Just, Miui, Sony Music, Music Player, Music Player for Android, N7 Player, Napster, Neutron, Pandora, Pi, PlayerPro, Poweramp, Pulsar, Rocket Player, Samsung Music, Soundcloud, Spotify, VLC, Winamp, and Youtube. (See the section below on Youtube).
If the app you use is not in the list, just enter its package name and you should be able to control it.
You can even use the volume buttons on one device to control the volume on the other device!
BENEFITS OF THE PAID VERSION:
With the paid version you can control playback from the notification area on your remote device, and from the lock screen. Also, there are no adverts.
INSTRUCTIONS:
First pair your two devices with Bluetooth.
Install and run Phone to Tablet Remote on both devices. On the device which will be the remote control, press "This Device is the Remote". After a few seconds you should see a message saying "Connected", and playback buttons will pop up.
Above the buttons you will see a drop-down list of music player apps. Select the one you want to control, then press the Play button and it should start playing. (If not, make sure it is open on the device you are controlling).
Beneath the drop-down list you should see information on the currently-playing music track. If you don't see any information, it means the app you are using to play music doesn't send this information. If you want to see track information, try another playback app (e.g. Google Play Music).
You will also be able to control playback from the notification area. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notification. This will also show up on your lockscreen, allowing you to control playback without unlocking your phone.
PLAYLISTS:
Select "Find playlists" from the menu on the remote and the app will import all the playlists it can find from your playback device. Choose the one you want, and the track listing will show on your remote. Although all of your playlists should show up, Phone to Tablet Remote can currently only play them back with four music player apps: Poweramp, Google Play Music, Rocket Player, or the Android internal player. More playlist playback apps will be added in future.
YOUTUBE:
When controlling the YouTube app, the back and next buttons only work if you are watching a playlist. Also, the play/pause buttons only work if you have already started playing a video.
THEME:
To change the theme, open the app, and select "Change theme" from the menu. There are only two themes, dark and light. (You can't change themes while connected).
ADDING APPS:
If the app you use for playback is not in the dropdown list of music players, simply select "Custom 1" from the bottom of the list. Then go to the playback device, open Phone to Tablet Remote, and from the menu in the top-right corner, select "Set custom app packages". In the space for Custom app 1, enter the package name of the app you want to control, and press OK. You should then be able to control the app.
You can use an app like Package Name Viewer to get the package name of the app you want to control. (You can also get an app's package name from it's Play Store URL - it is the ID parameter).
QUITTING:
Pressing the back button when connected doesn't quit the app, it just minimises it. To quit, first disconnect by selecting "Disconnect" from the menu, then press back to fully quit.
PRIVACY:
This app does not collect any personal information.
