About Phone to Tablet Remote Control

Phone to Tablet Remote Control is an Android to Android remote control for music which works using bluetooth. Control music on your Android tablet, phone or MP3 player from any other Android device (4.0.3 or later). Remotely play, pause, seek and skip tracks, change the volume, view playlists and select which songs to play. Save time and effort with this convenient app - the best Android-to-Android remote control for music.

Phone to Tablet Remote Control works with these apps:

AIMP, Amazon Music, Apollo, Apple Music, BlackPlayer, Deezer, Default Music Player, doubleTwist, Eleven, Equalizer Plus, Google Play Music, HTC Music, jetAudio, Just, Miui, Music Player, Music Player for Android, Music (Sony), N7 Player, Napster, Neutron, Pandora, Phonograph, Pi, Pixel, PlayerPro, Poweramp, Pulsar, Rocket Player, Samsung Music, Shuttle, Soundcloud, Spotify, Stellio, VLC, Winamp, and Youtube. (See the section below on Youtube).

If your favourite app is not listed, you can just enter its package name to control it.

BENEFITS OF THE PAID VERSION:

The paid version of the app lets you control playback with buttons in the notification area and from the lock screen. It only costs $0.99 (79p).

INSTRUCTIONS:

First pair your two devices with Bluetooth.

Install and run Phone to Tablet Remote on both devices. On the device which will be the remote control, press "This Device is the Remote". After a few seconds you should see a message saying "Connected", and playback buttons will pop up.

Above the buttons you will see a drop-down list of music player apps. Select the one you want to control, then press the Play button and it should start playing. (If not, make sure it is open on the device you are controlling).

Beneath the drop-down list you should see information on the currently-playing music track. If you don't see any information, it means the app you are using to play music doesn't send this information. If you want to see track information, try another playback app (e.g. Google Play Music).

PLAYLISTS:

Select "Find playlists" from the menu on the remote and the app will import all the playlists it can find from your playback device. Choose the one you want, and the track listing will show on your remote. Although all of your playlists should show up, Phone to Tablet Remote can currently only play them back with four music player apps: Poweramp, Google Play Music, Rocket Player, or the Android internal player. More playlist playback apps will be added in future.

YOUTUBE:

When controlling the YouTube app, the back and next buttons only work if you are watching a playlist. Also, the play/pause buttons only work if you have already started playing a video.

THEME:

To change the theme, open the app, and select "Change theme" from the menu. There are only two themes, dark and light. (You can't change themes while connected).

ADDING APPS:

If the app you use for playback is not in the dropdown list of music players, simply select "Custom 1" from the bottom of the list. Then go to the playback device, open Phone to Tablet Remote, and from the menu in the top-right corner, select "Set custom app packages". In the space for Custom app 1, enter the package name of the app you want to control, and press OK. You should then be able to control the app.

You can use an app like Package Name Viewer to get the package name of the app you want to control. (You can also get an app's package name from it's Play Store URL - it is the ID parameter).

QUITTING:

Pressing the back button when connected doesn't quit the app, it just minimises it. To quit, first disconnect by selecting "Disconnect" from the menu, then press back to fully quit.

PRIVACY:

This app does not collect any personal information.

Adding it as a media player on the device acting as a remote would be cool, my pebble time doesn't seem to pick it up as something that pause / commands should be sent to, it just plays the last thing my phone had going.

It needs some YouTube updates, I'll love to see some new features like making it to play next or previous video, minimizing the clip or even choosing which one I want to play. This app has potential

Hate it! Nah, I'm kidding. Loved that reply you gave to the bad review. This app works perfectly. Are there any features in the paid version that are not in this free version? And I have a suggestion, if it's possible technically to implement: keep the connection alive when you back out of the app. It's only a small annoyance since pressing home works, but, it would be nice. Also, I'm using it with poweramp, paid version, but that doesn't work when I select it. It does work when I select the regular one, maybe it's redundant in the list of media player apps?

I don't know where all the bad comments are coming from but i love this..yes, it's functions are still limited but this has a lot of potential. Give the developer a break you guys!

Is there any chance that I can browse the files remotely so I can choose which one to play?! That would be great add

This app was* dead to me! The developer is fast to help, that alone to me is worth 4-stars. Good, yet basic application. To the dev: I can send you the app if that is the issue. That and a proxy is all that could possibly be needed. The inability to change stations is a real killer.

Would be perfect if I could also control volume (not just play/ pause, skip) from notification bar. Is this programmatically possible with android. If not, maybe widget?

Q70%
by Q####:

Simple but I need to be able to select which songs are playing... At the moment it plays whatever it feels like and the only way to change the music is on the controlled device. Please give the option to select different albums
