MH-Paikalliset ("MH-Locals") is a mobile local bus route guide / trip planner utilizing Matkahuolto's online trip planner services. The local bus information is available for the following cities (and some of their neighbouring towns): Hämeenlinna, Imatra and Lappeenranta, Iisalmi, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kotka, Kouvola, Kuopio, Lahti, Mikkeli, Pori, Porvoo, Raahe, Rauma, Riihimäki, Rovaniemi, Salo, Savonlinna, Seinäjoki, Tampere, Turku, Uusimaa and Varkaus. MH-Paikalliset allows you to:
• Search locations by address or stop name
• Locate your current location with GPS and/or network
• Follow your location in real-time within a route (Google Maps)
• Search routes in the time of your choosing
• View the stages of the route in pictures or in Google Maps
• Save locations to favourites
The permission needed by MH-Paikalliset briefly:
INTERNET - Retrieving of route and address information, and Google Maps
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - Check the availability of a network connection
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION - Locating the current position (GPS+network)
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - Caching of Google Maps's map tiles; read
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - Same as above; write
com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES - required by Google Maps
fi.metacity.klmobi.permission.MAPS_RECEIVE - required by Google Maps

The new version has zero issues. It now supports a wide range of cities, and the UI is even smoother and easier to navigate than before. While the UI certainly does remind one of Andropas, it manages to be even better. I especially like the inline stop lists when viewing a route!

Great app, but sometimes gives you TOO good/quick routes. My type of ticket doesn't permit transfers, so I look for direct routes from A to B. However, as the bus stops at C for 15 minutes, the app tells me to get on another faster bus there, and so I will disregard that bus as on the app it looks like two buses with a transfer, even though the original bus would eventually take me all the way. I have not been able to change the search results by changing the Route type to "Least transfers", so it would be nice to have a "No transfers" option so it might be able to tell me the bus goes the whole way. But locally for shorter trips or with a more flexible ticket this is not an issue and the app works great! Has also listings for every stop which is brilliant for us that get on or off somewhere else but the beginning and end of the route.
