About Find the Hill
Have you ever been on a hike, without knowing what hills are around you?
Get to know the hills and mountains around you just by using our app and your own smartphone’s camera.
The app Find the Hill will help you discover world hills and visualize their names on your mobile device. Using the camera in your smartphone, you can see the hill with it’s name, description, height and distance from your current location. A filter let’s you choose which hills will show up on the map according to the distance.
Find the Hill can recognize, which hill you’re currently standing on and also the sealevel of that point.
After clicking on any given hill, you can visualize it on the map screen, where your location and the hill’s location will be shown.

Very easy to use and intuitive interface. I particularly liked the sliders that allow you to specify the minimum and maximum distances at which you want the app to show named peaks. That makes it easy to get rid of foreground clutter, or background clutter, if there are many peaks around you. Only one small gripe, I wish there was an option to display units (distance and height) in either metric or imperial. Today it supports only metric units.

Nice readable labeling of peaks (without overlap). Setting the distance is cumbersome though as there is no slider in the camera view.

The overlay of information and camera input is cool and kind of works. But it takes the app too long to adjust the gps position. All other apps can display the actual position while this one takes a few extra minutes. This should be fixed. Also a vertical calibration would improve the app.

Pracuje to aj v amerike:) Nemám tu veľa kopcov lebo som v South Jersey, ale občas chodíme na kopce... Môžeš tam dať možnosť aby to ukazovalo výšku vo feet a vzdialenosť v decimal miles?

It found the local hills around christchurch New Zealand. However its range is 16 km so it cannot see the mountains we can see in the distance.
