About Pennine Way

A companion app for hikers planning a trip along the Pennine Way, plan how far to walk each day and where to make camp. While out hiking the app will bring you back on track if you get lost and tells you what time the sun sets so you can choose where to aim for.

The entire Pennine Way path is plotted over the map and includes waypoints of peaks and places of interest, the app launches Google Maps at the current location where you can search for somewhere to sleep, or find the nearest pub!

Note. The SDCard permissions are required by the Google Maps API to store cached maps data on your device, the app does not read or write any data.

It is great for checking your precise position on the trail,at times of uncertainty. Saving unnecessary walking on tired feet..it was always a relief when the blue dot was moving along the yellow line. Basic but very useful.

Useful app for checking location. Seemed to require a network connection to get detailed views which is a bit annoying. Would be nice if users could tag things (good spots to wild camp eg.)

Can use google map for this no details of trail like camp sites or resorces

Efficient useful app, accurately tracked my position to a clearly marked pennine way route. This was very helpful on a sunny day near Hawes where even on a well signposted route there is occasional confusion: in poor visibility or fog it would be invaluable. I liked the function easily measuring distance between any two points. Also great that it turn GPS on and off automatically - a good time saver compared to apps which send you to settings out of the app to switch GPS on.
