European Health Insurance Card for Android
Useful prompt on what you need to know about getting treatment should you need it whilst abroad. It does not replace the physical EHIC card so carry that with you and be prepared you may still need to pay for or contribute to treatment, so fair warning, make sure you have travel insurance.
Doesn't have much functionality... would be better if it was like a loyalty card. ie had a copy of your card in the app..
Fine for info and renewals but i was hoping to be able to input my information and have a mobile version of the card available. Sadly not..
Expiration date only for one card. I wanted to use the app to save the expiration date of the card of my kid too, but you can set the expiration date only for one card. Also, I was expecting that there were instruction also for the staff of the country you are traveling to, but that is not the case. When I was in Italy, at the First Aid they had no idea how to use the data of a EU card from Sweden....
Waste of time the app does not support storing your cars details which would be more helpful than just the guidelines on uses if it was sorted out so that you could login and access your card that would be better
I don't see the point of this app. It does not replace your card, it simply gives offline information about the different types of cards and usage. Only practical feature seems to be it can remind you your card will need renewing... in like 5 years or so. I don't see the likelihood of me having this phone for that long, also my calendar does the same. 1 star, would not use again.
I like the fact that it's translated in every language. Explanation on how to use the card is consise and simple which is great. I just hope it will be accepted in the other countries without any hassle. I had my card for years and never used it as I had no idea you could get a refund. A real shame!
Can't see the point of this app. It's only functionality is to set a reminder that my card will need to be renewed in 5 years time. Cannot store card details so need to carry card, which is in a pocket of my phone case, no point in clogging up phone with a particularly pointless app.
You know what would be really useful? Translation. If I reside to work in a country of the EU but I don't speak the language this app should provide me with the translated instructions. Right now it just links me to the official forms. The EU has the budget to translate these at least into English if not translate all the forms into all the EU languages. Otherwise this app is just a collection of links. Another useful feature would be to just have the card virtually in the app since these cards don't have anything special than the information printed on them. I really like the initiative though. I hope you take the constructive criticism well.
I found the fact that the NHS had an app providing useful contact details per country useful and a sign of progress. It's a shame an image of the card can't be uploaded or that the reminder facility only seems to allow you to set an alarm for the date of expiry. This may be user error or an oversight but happy to have the information to hand whatever.
It's the only app out there relating to the card, but doesn't actually store the card info. I was sent here when I was looking to get a new card and from here, we get sent back to another website. The moment you are surprised that the EU finally started to go digital and then really get disappointed, cause obviously they didn't :-(
Handy for information about each country but the best thing is the auto reminder for when the card is expiring I only noticed my last one had expired on the day I left for my holiday. Let's hope we can continue to get the benefit following the Brexit madness.
Decent app. Provide information of how and where to use the card in all European countries as well as how to claim a reimbursement. I would give 5 stars if i could store the card details in the app. I know you not responsible for issuing the card but still can manually input the info of the card.
As per other reviews. Pretty pointless other than info one could Google. Don't understand why virtual card is not acceptable if the physical version doesn't have a photo or anything ie there's no difference between someone stealing ones card and using it or doing the same with the phone. I look after my phone better than I look after this card to be fair
Very basic app. Not hugely useful. An EHIC seems pretty pointless in the first place. An EU passport/ID should suffice. This app doesn't add much.
What's the point of this app? It does nothing but tell you a card exists. Just send people to the relevant website instead of asking to download an app of 5mb +18mb downloaded data that does absolutely nothing. It frustrates me to think that somebody got paid to develop and update this.
Should just say English pay! I showed the EHIC card to the hotel when requesting a doctor and we got a private one, no discussion. The doctor said noone is free on weekends.
Doesnt store card info . Doesnt give you any information other than how to renew and set a reminder for card expiry. In my opinion, not worth the storage space. Witb a little work, might be worth having.
Pointless app. This provides information that you need read only once. Would be more useful if you could store a photo of your valid card OR if you could set a 'reminder to renew' date.
I would have expected to be able to carry my EHIC card digitally with this app. What a waste of time.
Very useful for as long as the UK retains membership of the EHIC system! However, indications of country by country costs for common illnesses, ailments and I juries would be very helpful and assist in dispelling misconceptions regarding comparability with the users' home country.
Good for having information about national health service institutions around the EU, completely useless if you expect to have your EHIC card to be electronic... Pity that with all EU standardisation and tax payer EUR given to various EU institutions, this is the only what can be done in 21st century.... :(
Useless. For refreshing understanding ok, but on other hand it should state so in Google play store title!
Waste of time. Can't apply or renew EHIC, it just gives the same info that the nhs page does then redirects you back out to apply. What value does this really add?
OK. This just an informational app but couldn't it be linked to my own card so I don't need to carry it?
You cannot store your card details. So you are no better off if you get caught out abroad and left the card behind. Not much point.
Could be much more useful. As others said, why not personal card data, local A&E etc.
If it's possible to apply online, having registered, and request cards or renew, then must be possible to securely have app store secure card details. I can access my bank securely via an app, so please extend functionality to this app.
All the info you'll need but it would be nice to have some functionality.
You can apply to renew an EHIC card but nothing beyond this, maybe a renewal reminder but this is a bit pointless as these cards last 5 years..will I still have this app beyond this week?!
Expected to be able to search by resort for accessible hospitals etc. Surely that could be linked to phones current location as a feature. I agree with other reviewer that a search engine could provide most of this without taking up space on my phone.
Wouldnt it be great if you could download your EHIC to this app. Without this functionality its useless!
As others have said, being able to store details of your card, even locally, would improve the app no end.
Just a page of information. No functionality or usefulness
This app is pretty basic but very useful if you have lost your card abroad. Though in this day and age you would expect to be able just to have a digital version on your phone.
App is almost pointless. Would only be of use if it had a copy of the card
All this is is information that is available through the EHIC website, nothing else
How do I get new cards I can't find my own ones
Useful as the info is available offline so if you cannot get online you can still access the information

Useful as back up info. only. I used it to record procedures and phone number to follow when your card has expired but you are about to travel! Felt more re assured I had something! Hoping won't need to use the service though!
