SuperSU for Android
POOR TOOL. RECENT UPDATE MADE MY CP UNROOTBLE AND REMOVE ITS ROOT. NOW HARD RESETTING IS NOT WORKING STILL CANT GAIN ROOT. YOU ARE FORCED TO FLASH THIS AT BOOT . I HAVE NO ROOT BECAUSE OF THIS. . FORCED TO USE LAPTOP FOR RECOVERY. WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO DONT HAVE P.C OR LAPTOP AND RUINED BY THIS TOOL? A LAUGHING MATTER? FIND A WAY TO MAKE THIS IN NORMAL INSTALLATION . THIS TOOL BECAME BURDEN TO MY CP. BURDEN
EDIT: V2.82 works normally again, on HTC10 rooted stock firmware. su binary update, from .apk, completed without loosing root. OLD: 2.81 still can't update su binary neither from .apk nor from .zip on HTC10 (fails at patching SEPolicy when installing through TWRP recovery). Reverted to 2.79-SR3, which works OK on my device.
Are these changes necessary? I can no longer use RootSwitch to switch off my Root and use banking apps. This worked perfectly with 2.79, I'm not sure what was changed but it needs to be changed back. Please don't ruin all these years of Chainfire's hard work by screwing up his app. Time to start looking for an alternative SuperUser.
On the latest update v2.82, during the restart it was stuck on the boot screen. Good thing, I restarted and it didn't actually bricked my phone. EDIT: My phone got stuck again on the boot screen again. Please fix that before it gets worse and actually bricks phones. My phone's root is still intact though.
I was hoping the update would fix all the bugs but it seems not. SU keeps saying update binary_reboot , tried rebooting and updating, not working. Flashing super user with recovery not even working . Most root apps stopped working.
Updated Supersu last Friday night on my Sony Tablet Z (original purchase price $525 Australian) and instant bootloop. My attempt to replace the boot image using Fastboot unfortunately resulted in a brick. Not happy. Edit.. you obviously didnt read my remarks. The device is dead. Dead. No go. No lights no action when you hold vol up and power. Or just power. Its dead.
Previous update failed to update binary and in the process removed root, latest update has not fixed this (and I doubt is possible) so now my device will need rooting again (which is very complicated and took many attempts to work) next time I will think again before updating. This is otherwise a good app that has previously worked well.
Version 2.81 has lost root for me on Google Pixel C on latest official firmware. Had to re-flash to an older version in recovery which restored root. UPDATE: Version 2.82 has fixed whatever the problem was. Everything working fine again. 5*
Suddenly requires a while lot more rights. V2.82 put my device into a boot loop, in the end I managed to get it into safe mode so I could uninstall superSU. doing a recovery install of the 2.82 zip fixed the issue, but what a painful experience.
I managed to survive the update for my two devices from v.2.79 to v2.82 (Galaxy S4 GT19505 kitkat 4.4.2 and Cherry Mobile Flare J1 Mini lollipop 5.1) but man that was really worrisome. My S4 encountered the dreaded "Installation Unsuccessfull" prompt, i rebooted then after a few seconds it auto-restarted (i'm guessing because of the patch?). I did not lose root and everything is back to normal (checked via Root Checker Pro). The J1 Mini update while smooth did worry me too. I am now wary of future updates.
Samsung GT-I8552. After the latest update, my vibration motor works again. I thought it was a purely hardware issue. Right after flashing latest version, vibration issue were fixed. The Root access (binary) has been successfully installed now.
This version puts my Sony z Ultra into a boot loop once the su binary is updated. I have tried 3 times. Boot loop each time. I had to flash version 2.79 to stop the boot loops. Thanks for the quick reply. I reflashed xdual recovery which fixed it. Also my Android is 5.0.1. Part of the problem. Thanks
2.79 working fine on my HTC. This update results in "su binary occupied" error and will not work. If I install 2.79 via twrp play store immediately updates it and it doesn't work. Rubbish
All good, only problems is, that I'm using Resurrection remix ROM, and always if there is a new update, after update, it wont update binaries. So I have to flash latest supersu with twrp. Whatever, most useful app in my phone
Latest version broke both root switch and pass of safety check when undoubted in LG v20 gave you another change 2.82 still breaks root switch, cannot re-enable root without a reboot. And still breaks safety check. Just go back to old version.
What happen?!! Latest binary update makes my phone can do auto rotate, even landscape game became portrait. Shutdown animation can't be read too. Fix it soon please.
Updated to v2.80 on Play store -- unrooted. Re-rooted via v2.79. Then tried v2.81 -- same story. Then tried v2.82 via both the Play store and then an apk version. Both unrooted me. Looks like I will be stuck at v2.79 forever.
2.82 Still lost root. CAN YOU ROLL US BACK until you fix it? I downloaded 2.79 apk but it won't let me update
Still even after the 2.82 update, my root is still broke, im using a note 3 v4.4.2, i will leave one star until you fix this problem
I updated mine on my Xperia c3 dual and after reboot got stuck in bootloop and nothing solved it except wiping device!
What the hell is wrong with you people, my tablet was perfectly rooted before updating to your latest version?!? If you intend to generate backdoors for google & other spying agencies then just advice so and I will change to Clockworks Superuser application! Tell me, how many devices did you unroot due to your little "mistake", and in whose behalf did you launch this attack!!! What does it cost to abuse your users trust? Since my device status stays damaged even after the emergency patch, I will have to keep you liable for any further damage, data loss and my operating time to get my device funtioning properly again. Therefore advice if the contact adress mentioned in the application info is the correct one where a person educated with liability issues will respond?
Does not work latest version on my SC-02F. I feel so sad. you published unnecessary update :(
I am facing problem like su binary occupied root user account error found when i checked through root checker app
I was pleased till the last couple of updates. I've lost root on 2.81, and 2.82 update did not regain root. Should I wait for an update or reflash rom? Running HTC 10
The latest Recovery zip - - 2.82-527 worked for me. Still couldn't ever get the Playstore update to work though. But at least now I'm up to date.
Lost root yet again, just like 2.80 and 2.81. Reverting back to 2.79 fixes it still. Three stars for the rapid fixes and response, and 2.79 still working. Wish I could push the new binary without losing root though. Galaxy S7.
Broke root on my phone about a week ago. Not an easy fix on my phone as root corrupts all Google apps and needs a format. Really annoying
Still breaks root as of 5/26/17 9:30am. Do not update. Very broken. Edit. Now works as of 05/28/17. Version 2.82. Thanks for being responsive.
Lost root with 281 and 282. Not gonna update. Took the trouble to reflash to stock and root again. Waste of time updating.
V2.82 is working fine on my Huawei P9 device now after I flashed the SuperSU2.82-EMUI5-SelPermissive.zip file taken from XDA.
works well, an update for me went buggy once, but going back to default, then applying updates again resolved all.
Last few updates were totally waste. It was causing heat and battery drain issue with random freezing of phone
As of 2.82 this works for me again which means it's an excellent root management tool and one of the few that gets updated to deal with new things quickly and reliably.
2.81 and 2.80 both removed root from my phone. New permissions are excessive and invasive.
With the last version I get "Device not rooted" error, useless
Issue has been resolved with new update. Great work codingcode for fixing loss of root issue. Works well now
Why not just release an update back to 2.79? This sucks, no more custom SoftKeyZ for me.
2.82 is working fine via TWRP. Nexus 9, latest Slim 7 ROM. Thanx. But I don't like these new permissions.
Last update!! Keep getting root undetected, now i need to root my device wow.

Guys, this is absolutely uncalled for. You have a patch to fix 2.82 instead of just pushing the fixed app. If anyone makes the error of opening your app and updating the binaries they will still be blocked from root with your stupid check when the app opens. Root is still broke for Pixel XL coming directly from working 2.79 due to a two level update. FIX IT or you will lose all. Now I have to flash back again... getting old.
