The ESV Bible

The English Standard Version (ESV) is an English translation of the Bible. It is a revision of the 1971 edition of the Revised Standard Version, created by a group of 95 evangelical Bible scholars and teachers from 12 countries.

First published in 2001, it had a revision in 2007 based in grammar, consistency and clarity. Another edition was issued in 2011.

The philosophy of translation was “essentially literal”. Each word has been carefully weighed against the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, to ensure the accuracy, clarity, simplicity and beauty.
