About Music Tutor Sight Read Lite

Learn to sight-read music with MusicTutor SightRead (MTSR). MTSR is a quiz game designed for music students, for learning to read (and write) music in an easy and pleasant way.

*
** Gameplay

MTSR includes some games, but all them work the same way:

1) The program ask a question, which is shown on a panel (question panel)
2) The user answers, using another panel (answer panel). If the answer is correct, a sound is played, corresponding to the question made; if not, a failure sound is played.

These are the included games:

1) Read staff: The programs draws a staff in question panel, and a note in its position. The user must answer with a keyboard.
2) Write staff: The program shows a note name in question panel. The user must answer using the answer panel (which draws a staff) dragging the note to its correct height.

*
** Game modes

1) Timed tests: during the selected time interval, the user answers questions. Correct and wrong answers are accounted, and when the time is over, a score (based on correct&wrong answers and time) is shown.
2) Study: the user answers questions without any time limit. In this mode, the "Learn" button is available, and it changes program behaviour.
3) Learn: in this mode, the user touches the answer panel, and the program shows the question (or questions) which would have been answered by given answer.

*
** Time options

Game time can be chosen. If "0" is chosen, the game has no time limit and "Learn" mode can be activated.

Stored results from previous tests can be shown.

*
** Notation Systems
- English (C, D, E, F, G, A, B)
- Italian (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si)
- German (C, D, E, F, G, A, H)

*
**

MTSR is designed to work in any screen orientation (portrait, landscape), and screen sizes (phone, tablet). Help is included.

Learn and enjoy with MSTR!

I actually bought the full version, very cheap, totally worth it. Has some other options (answers the complaints I saw listed below) and it's easy to use. Helped me get back my reading speed after a long break

X70%
by X####:

The app collapses everytime I tried to check the history tests. The free version is very basic, but it works well.

N70%
by N####:

Simple, but affective. It does not teach you the notes, so you'll have to look it l them up. However simple it is effective as a flashcard app with both read and write flashcard style drills.

February of 15' I received my purple trumpet this app helped me to further grasp the scale. Then I bought two young men their trumpets April 17', one trumpet is purple and the other is blue but it is helping me to help them achieve and understand the scale! They are doing so well with me introducing them to this app allowing them to have fun and learn at the same time; Plus this is an awesome game!

J70%
by J####:

Very helpful. Crashes if you try to look at historical test results, but that's unimportant.

M70%
by M####:

Difficult to control the volume.

B70%
by B####:

It's great. But, I almost wish there was a pause after getting a note right, so you can savor the right note and slide it into memory after you know it's right. Sometimes when you are learning, you guess (right) and bam it's gone.....

X70%
by X####:

Well it helps me out like a lot.. In my band class when I need help with learning the notes.. I recommend it to anyone, my high score point is like 44

Great app for learning but it should really have a short lesson or tips within it.

I don't have the full app it seems but what I do have i like. I am older(50's) so the simple themes work. Do wish I could try for longer or it would tell me best score

I70%
by I####:

When you have guessed your note correctly, it would be good for it to stay on screen for a second or two so you can process the correct answer you gave. It skips too quickly to the next note. Otherwise its fun. Learn fast

U70%
by U####:

It's simple and easy to use. Only thing I really don't like is how it flashes either red or green when you make a mistake or correct a mistake. Freaks me out. Other than that, I like it.

N70%
by N####:

Also it would be great if you could guess one whole bar of notes before changing. So guessing four notes at a time so you're actually reading along the staff.

R70%
by R####:

The app is a good one to remember notes' location. > Suggestion: It would be better if there was introdution to notes in the help menu or wherever else, so we could revise them and the tests would be more helpful. Thank U

W70%
by W####:

My 7yo is delighted to compete with dad, practicing nicely in the process. Nice app indeed. Supports screen rotation, as bonus.

V70%
by V####:

Quickly helps you learn to read music. It's a lot of fun. It also train's your ear.
