Nerdstalgia for Android
Nerdstalgia will allow you to see the world through the eyes of your favourite retro systems: Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, PCW, CGA (modes 0 and 1), EGA, Hercules and Gameboy... and everything is processed and displayed REALTIME! No more waiting for pictures to be "processed".
The pictures you take are saved to the "Nerdstalgia" folder in the SD Card. The application also includes a lightweight gallery to browse through the pictures without having to hook the phone to a computer.
IMPORTANT: Please be aware that this is an EXTREMELY resource intensive application. For the best performance and frame rate, make sure you're using a phone with a fast processor.
Supported phones: HTC Magic, HTC Evo, HTC Nexus One, Samsung Nexus S.
This application *might* or *might not* work in other phones. Unfortunately, I can't provide support for phones that I don't have physical access to.
If the app doesn't work, please just request a refund instead of leaving a negative comment. Hope you understand! :-)
Glad I stumbled on to this and gave it a try. Works on Galaxy Note II.
S4 mini doesn't work. Refund?
thanks for quick update, no more crashes after:-) ps. can you make it fullscreen for my samsung spica? now picture shows only in top right corner..
i wish it did. i want this app to work so bad. : (
Would love to see BBC Model B and so on. A great nostalgia trip, and works fine on my S-E Xperia Mini Pro.
C'mon dev please update. This used to work a while back now, like others, I'm getting a black screen (LG Optimus 2X with CM10.1).
Glad I stumbled on to this and gave it a try. Works on Galaxy Note II.
This app works ok and it's cheaper to buy than many other apps that are available. I downloaded it mostly just to test out though. In my opinion it is a bit overly lo-fi for my tastes.
Just doesn't work with a Toshiba 10 w. JB update. Can't "initialize camera" & can't take pictures. Nice concept though. Uninstalled with regrets. ==A year and a half later...still doesn't work. ==
Works nicely on my S3 phone. Would love to have an option to use the front camera though (for easier pixelated self portraits).
You should make it so I can switch to my front facing camera. That would be great :)
A dedicated menu showing options for cameras types and the hardware button use for talking buttons are needed to make this app functional. 2 stars until.
No live viewfinder. Images only take up a small corner of the screen. Disappointing because it's an awesome premise!
Image only fills a portion of the viewing area (upper right corner), instead of the entire screen. Leaving a "L" shaped chunk of empty space.
Doesnt kinda work on ICS/Galaxy Nexus. You can take pictures, but the viewfinder doesnt work and it's only 1/4 of the screens size.
Loved this app on my G2, missing it on my Gnex/ICS.
Closest you'll get to a GB Camera emulator. Would be neat to have front cam as well.
Originally had an HTC device and fell in love. Upgraded to an S3 but it's never worked on the newer device. Still, if this works on your phone it's worth having. So the 5-star rating remains. I don't think the author plans on updating. Luckily there are FINALLY more camera apps out there with similar functionally, and MORE! I'll always hold a flame for Nerdstalgia. It was the first of its kind for Android. I've kept it installed for over a year hoping for an update but today I'm uninstalling, sadly.
The pictures, for the most part, look great. It works particularly well if there are a lot of colors in the frame. I'd like to see this updated with some other palettes and the ability to tweak things but I'm not holding my breath. One thing about using this on a tablet is that it's not full screen; picture stays at the low resolution when viewing and capturing.
Camera doesn't work well and freezes upon opening the app.
Sad face. The apo seems really nice but I can't use it.
nice effects but too basic to pay for. the interface is horrible and desperately needs a fullscreen option. Also doesn't support HDMI out.
Works great. Every mode looks authentic. Simple layout.
Opens to a frozen image on Droid2. Crashes after I press the shutter button. Please fix!
Awesome app! A video record option would be awesome :)
Pretty cool app.
This app is good fun!
Add zoom and flash control and it's five stars. Video support too?
Nerd powa!
