Escucha elDiario.es te permite mantenerte informado y disfrutar de las noticias publicadas en elDiario.es (aplicación oficial en https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.eldiario.app), leyéndotelas como si de una radio se tratara. Si por cualquier razón no puedes leer elDiario.es, descárgate Escucha elDiario.es y podrás estar informado mientras conduces, cocinas, vas en bici, te duchas o cualquier otra situación donde no puedas estar mirando la pantalla. Te permite escuchar las noticias de portada, por secciones o por autor, con un control facil (incluyendo gestos) que permite su uso sin mirar la pantalla. IMPORTANTE: la experiencia de usuario está muy determinada por el motor TTS instalado en el móvil. Se recomiendan, por este orden, Samsung TTS (en móviles de gama alta de esa marca), Ivona TTS (gratis en fase beta, busca ivonatts en Play Store), SVOX (3€, busca svoxtts en Play Store), y Pico TTS (instalado por defecto en todos los móviles Android). Pico TTS en versiones Android posterior 4.x se considera de una calidad pésima.

Entre sus características están:
- Selección de las noticias a escuchar entre: todas las noticias de portada (con información de las noticias no leídas por sección), las noticias de portada de una determinada sección, las noticias de una sección (aunque no estén en la portada) o las noticias de un determinado autor (aunque no estén en la portada).
- Visualización del texto de la noticia, presentando el párrafo que se lee actualmente.
- Las noticias ya leídas no se vuelven a leer (configurable).
- Permite pausar la lectura, avanzar a la siguiente (marcando o no como leída), retroceder, abrir la web de la noticia en el navegador y compartir el enlace por correo, facebook, twitter, etc.
- Control gestual de la lectura (avance, retroceso y pausa), para el uso en situaciones que no permitan mirar a la pantalla (p.e. conduciendo). Deslizando la noticia hacia atrás, se avanza a la siguiente; hacia adelante, se retrocede; trazando una V en la pantalla, se pausa o continúa la lectura.
- Control de la velocidad de lectura y de los tonos de pronunciación (configurable el uso de dos tonos alternos para cada párrafo, simulando locutores con diferente tono).
- Permite avanzar o retroceder la lectura de la noticia con solo pulsar el párrafo deseado.
- Uso de un diccionario de acrónimos y abreviaturas, para hacer inteligible la lectura de los mismos (p.e. en vez de "CCOO", se lee "Comisiones Obreras"; "Dow Jones" se lee "Dau Yons" ).

Mejoras y características futuras:
- Reproducción automática de vídeos contenidos en las noticias.
- Modificación del tamaño de letra de visualización de las noticias.

IMPORTANT: the user experience is largely determined by the TTS engine installed on the mobile. In this order, (in high-end mobile that brand) are recommended Samsung TTS, Ivona TTS (free in beta, looking ivonatts in Play Store), SVOX (3 €, looking svoxtts in Play Store), and Pico TTS (installed by default on all Android phones). Pico TTS Android 4.x versions later considered a very poor quality.

Among its features are:
- Selection of news to hear from: all cover story (with information on the unread by section news), the cover story of a particular section, news section (although not on the cover) or news of a particular author (although not on the cover).
- Viewing the text of the news, presenting the paragraph currently reads.
- The news read and not read back (configurable).
- To pause the reading, go to the next (marking as read or not), rewind, open the web news in the browser and share the link via mail, facebook, twitter, etc.
