This isn't the best for effective vocab memorization. Too many English definitions for some words. The whole list is in alphabetical order which makes it BORING to learn VERY quickly. Very obscure kanji that's not in the exam level I'm working on (N1) or even commonly used. I am very disappointed. Would be better if vocab was 100% random or grouped by topic and real kanji for vocab or even just common kana were used.

This app is unparalleled to the day. It's a shame is no longer under development because it has a few issues to fix. For one sample sentences are all over the place for homonyms. The JLPT levels are also very random showing very difficult words and kanji in the lower levels such as 夙 (which I have only read in history books) and very basic words like 〜さん in the N1 section. Words that should be paired like 甥 and 姪 are scattered in different levels. Still, it is an excellent app. Audio (could be TTS), at least for JLPT would have been nice.

Some poor UI choices, can't mix E->J and J->E modes, multiple choice options are random, so if the question word is a noun, there may be only one noun in the answers, so it's too easy to guess without really knowing.

The app is work pretty well and all the thing is pretty well too , but we need Romaji . Can u pls Add romaji under the Japanese sentence pls. Thank you

Fantastic way of learning new words. Heaps of example sentences help too. Need in app option to advise of incorrect words.

Z70%

Seriously, I love your app. But I want you to add the option to increase the size of character. Because sometimes I wanna revise vocabulary and it's too small for me. If you add it, I think I'll even pay for you.

Z70%

Needs accommodation for large screens. Larger fonts/buttons would be nice.

Mistakes let the application down. For example 'sokkuri' does not mean 'altogether'.

Perfect! Very helpful! I love how every word has example sentences. But the layout is too simple. :D But it's great!

The bug appears in jlpt n3, the last group of words 1601-1604 can't be launched: it crashes the app. Only bug i noticed in several months of use! The app is a nice way to review the vocabulary. EDIT: the bug has been corrected by their latest update. The app is greater than ever now! I'm at N2 level and enjoying it.

Would rate 5 stars if it had info on kanji meaning. Also vocabulary lists based on Jōyō kanji grades would be a great option to learn new kanji with their most common pronunciations and in the same time learn new vocabulary. Finally, when quizzing please add a "I do not know" selection to avoid guessing words.

I use Kotoba regularly and find it excellent, particularly all the sample sentences. When I use it on my Galaxy Tab A device, the kanji font is bold and hard to read. It is FAR easier to use it on my HTC One phone. I want to learn these kanji. Help me.

M70%

If you type romaji - it gives nonsense, randomly sorted (try komorebi). If you paste several words - the list of findings is also randomly sorted.

I like everything about the apps except that fact that all the meanings are correct but weird at the same time. This could confuse a lot of learners

B70%
by B####:

Some words in here are wrong. For example, 飴 ((hard) candy) is 雨 (rain) in the example sentences. That's not the only one.

P70%
by P####:

The amount of information is fantastic, the layout is great, but the memorization style is lacking. Almost all of the time, you can guess the multiple choice answer without knowing the word. I think it would be far more effective to use a system similar to Anki, where you press to show the answer and then select whether you remembered the word. With that it would be perfect.

While I train on another app I may eventually switch to this one. The example sentence are great, but the verbs and tences are a little scattered or undefined.

Where is my Sawako-chan :( and why you removed -chan from app name?

R70%
by R####:

I wish there was a voice for the words so we can master our accent. Otherwise, it's awesome.

R70%

But please bring back sawako chan

R70%

It is the best app for my intermediate level. I just wish there was a setting for displaying the words bigger. I am probably not the only one in such a case.

Great app! Is there a way to copy my data to another device?

Very easy to use and has a wealth of knowledge about the Japanese language. Best part, it's all free! Keep up the great work

D70%

Really like. Would LOVE it if there was sound to it, like pronouncuation of the Japanese term. That way listening skills are also improved along with reading and memorizing.

Do consider custom lists and quizzes! This is so that we can test ourselves on chosen words or words we have currently learnt.

App contains a good amount of words and phrases as said

N70%

It's light, provide the word usage in sentence, and have two mode (Eng-jpn and JPN to Eng)

I find it very useful. Is it possible to allow groups smaller than 50? For example 10.

Would rate 5 if you could hide answers before answering. Add "Show answers" button please.
