一部の研究者や専門家、日本文化に造詣の深い方々を除き、多くの現代人は明治時代まで受け継がれてきた変体仮名が読めなくなっています。読めるようになりたいという気持ちはあっても、これまで変体仮名辞典を横に難解な古典文学や古文書を遅々と読み進めていく形で「勉強」するしかなかった。とにかくハードルが高かったのではないでしょうか。
