mPingOLD for Android
I understand that the NSSL uses radar in conjunction with these reports, but "rain" seems an insufficient description during a thunderstorm. Otherwise it's a good app.
For those who said that there limited weather types so what when collecting data if doesn't matter. They only need a few parameters anyhow. It could user a face lift.. So minus one star for that
Does exactly what it says it will do and does it well. I have often used this for my own professional use which is television meteorologist.
Still no Hawaii or Alaska on the map. Or unable to view Alaska or Hawaii reports.
Wish we could report extreme cold temps.
Can't set my correct time and can't give good weather details. No flurries just snow... ect
Needs to have a cloudy option or sunny option fog
Could use more descriptives such as fog, drizzle, light rain, hard rain, etc. Otherwise, a useful app.
Just wish you had more parameters during the reporting process. Such as severity and how heavy the precipitation is.
Some folks may misunderstand what this app's purpose is. This is to help validate weather forecasts, not help you find weather.
Weather research is very important and if this app helps professionals understand our climate and better predict weather.. Very simple to use and easy on resources. Chip in a few minutes a day and help weather forecasters! Highly recommend
I still question whether or not our severe weather reports actually make it on the SPCs latest storm reports on the map. I've filed numerous reports and yet when I check latest reports I never see my report there.
a very good app,you report the weather & you can check&see what is going on
Maybe add groppel to the list of rain/snow. I do like the app.
Use this app when we have bad weather. Would be nice if T-Storms was added to the list of events...
We need to promote this apps use more
Awesome program for SkyWarn Spotters to use with android or iphone
Love getting involved however I can only pick snow... I would like to report flurries. Maybe offer additional options in falling precipitation.
I like the ability to be able to report precip/met conditions. My biggest gripe with both the Apple/Android versions (I use both) is being forced to use the location services. It would be very nice to be able to predefine my locations, be able to select the one I want to report from without having to turn on location services. I know where I am at and prefer that Google, etc not know where I am at all times. I have other apps that have no problem with this so I don't think it would be a big deal.
There's a big difference between snow flurries and big snowflakes that are sticking.

In all honesty, I definitely like the idea of helping with anything related with crowdsourcing. However, I do feel the categories could use some improvements. Personally speaking, I would like the option to report Light Fog and Flurries.
As of right now after having this app for the hour I've had I find it lacking a few things. It's sleeting right now and I can't tell them that because there is not an option for that. Has an option for rain but not heavy rain. Probably gonna delete this app cuz it seems useless.

Easy. To use auto locates to your location wish it had heavy / light precip
For example, rather than wind damage, which could be current or in the past, add "high winds". Add "temperature change", as it is a good early warning.
App force closes more than works. Was working till last update.
It keeps saying that the app has stopped working every time I try to open it.
Needs more details such as inch per minute. Winds speeds etc
Thanks to everyone who downloaded the app and sent feedback. The 1.1 version of the app has the following enhancements: 1. Uses cell tower based location until GPS fix is obtained, so those of you in tall buildings can still use the app. 2. The app lets go of the GPS immediately when you navigate away instead of waiting for the app to get passivated by the os. So battery use should be more friendly now. 3. Ability to view submitted reports. 4. More categories. 5. A marker on the map that indicates the location. Thanks and stay safe! Response to several common questions/suggestions: (1) A way to report intensity. The problem is that radar-measured rates and human-observed intensities are not really commensurate. We decided not to open that can of worms, for now. (2) "Settings" menu: That is something Android adds by default. This app (by design) has no menu and no settings. (3) Ability to submit photographs. We tried that before, but we got submissions of photographs of people doing not-safe-for-work activities.
Have used this for about a year. Nice to be able to help weather SVC with ground truth, great to get a look on what's up elsewhere.
I'm a weather geek & love that as a citizen I can provide useful weather data for my area..
Too bad I forget I even have it on my machine. :O
For amateur weather lovers, it's an awesome way to help further research for meteorological understanding.
I love the app guys
I enjoy the fact that I am able to assist in research that will advance weather forecasting abilities.
Have not had any exciting weather ..
Good app if only more people would use it. Like the updates!
Great app. Would be better if more people used it.
