Voice of Chicago

This application allows Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) students to contribute their voices to an archive of Chicago speech, as linguists work to define what it means to speak like a Chicagoan. In addition, it’s a game that helps both nonnative English speakers and native English speakers to improve their overall communication and social skills.

Features:
- be a speaker: provide sample speech for coaching and expect advice from other student-coaches;
- be a coach: listen to the recordings of your colleagues, rate their accents, and provide useful comments;
- collect points by coaching well.

This application was built as a collaboration between the computer science department and profs. Ken Konopka and Shahrzad Mahootian from the linguistics department of Northeastern Illinois University.
