Hint2Search Bluetooth Launch for Android
Don't work on Note 3
The only app I've found that lets bluetooth use Google Now voice! Excellent app!
It generally works well But - It assumes that the BT headset is paired Voice-Only. Some users like me, also have a headset for listening to HiFi music, using a proprietary Codec, which is paired separately, under "Multimedia". After this app has finished doing its job, the Multimedia pairing disconnects, and leaves the BT headset connected only in Phone mode. It's odd, because the music player fades correctly, for Google Now to receive our Voice Command. Further, I don't really know whether this is due to the app, or whether this is just generally something that Google Now does.
Works a treat on a platronics Bluetooth piece. You got to hold the button in till you hear the second beep, it will then ask you for the app and your all set to go! Well done mate!
This app does exactly what is says it'll do. Been looking for an app that gives google now via Bluetooth vs stock. Easy to setup on my G3.
I bought the moto hint earrbud but could not use it on my Samsung Galaxy note edge until this app. The play store did not have moto voice and so I searched for days until I found this app. Thank you thank you so much
I have a note4 and idiots at google removed the bluetooth google now This will make your Sena phone button actually useful. You can say anything to google now like "navigate home" or "play motorcycle playlist" Google play music subscription is a must!!!!!! I got a widget to quickly change my screen timeout to 15 seconds before i ride so the screen turns off fast after a voice command, saving battery. If this app costed $15 id still be happy. Very smart oncthe pocketmode screen guard. Good work Dev!
Working extremely well on my Edge 6+, with seamless integration with GoogleNow. The splash screen is on for just an instant as it hands off to GoogleNow. Not only is it a great app, it saved my $150 headset from being just a voice dialer. Thanks, Dev! Awesome job.
Will not let me use the bluetooth Mic with sena and lg g4. Have tried multiple apps. Only works if phone hears me.
Motorola H730 works. Man, I tried everything to get Google Now to listen to the bluetooth microphone. The rom I'm using didn't have a VoiceDialer app so I couldn't voice dial at all. Pressing the call button did open Google Now but it wouldn't listen to the bluetooth mic, even though it stopped listening to the handset mic also, so there was zero audio input with bluetooth connected. Bluetooth Launch didn't work but this app fixed the problem and I didn't even have to check the "Fight for mic" option, which I thought I'd have to given how stubborn Google Now was to NOT listen to the BT headset. Why Google Now doesn't work like this out-of-the-box I can't fathom. Edit: Actually it's still not listening to the BT mic but it is listening to the handset which it wasn't doing before. I don't know why but it works that way. I think that's a bug with cyanogenmod ROMs though.
With the latest Google update on the moto maxx (probably all phones), the Google app recognizes and responds to a button press and works better than before with this app. This app worked well before the update and I don't regret purchasing because I did need it before.
I have the LG HBS800 and this app adds a power to the headset that I now consider irreplaceable. Instead of the talk button just allowing me to make calls, I can start navigation, respond to hangouts messages, play music, you name it.
This is the ONLY app I have tried that actually works to restore Google Now voice commands when the Bluetooth command button is pressed, and STAYS WORKING. Not only has it worked, it continues to work after multiple button presses. Those with this trouble will know that often after the second button press on a Bluetooth device, Google Now voice commands will not work. This has fixed all that. See ya archaic Voice Dialer! Thank you to the dev for fixing what Google never should have broken in the first place
Thank you for developing this. Without it the hint would have never worked with my Samsung. Please keep up the great work! A+++++
Loved it .. solved my "Google now via bluetooth-button" problem
Works like a charm! !
Works very well with my note 4, lollipop & moto hint. I have one request, please add a bluetooth battery level indicator if possible.
Great app it is, but it's no longer needed, for google now Bluetooth activation function is improved with the latest edition google app
I've tried several other apps to try and make my headset work. Finally, I came across this app, and it works! Yay! I can ask my phone anything while I'm riding! This app is excellent in part because the developer wrote great documentation on how to set up the phone so this will work (eg. Use Smart Lock).
When I get to the point of pressing the bluetooth button it does not bring up the default option... I am using a lg flex... If it works. I will give it 5 stars.
Works perfectly. Could do without the unnecessary splash screen before google voice starts though. If I need an app to open google voice through a headset button, I don't need a reminder which app is allowing me to do so. This is an app that should do its thing in the background.
So many additional features then bluetooth launch. Trigger wakes up the phone when its off and behind S-view cover and prompts for "Ok Google" Perfect, Thanks
Would be 5 stars except: in setup it opened the wrong app to disable, and some of the directions did not match the lollipop prompts, but not too hard to figure out what was supposed to happen and make it work perfectly.
This app does exactly what is says it'll do. Been looking for an app that gives google now via Bluetooth vs stock. Easy to setup on my G3.
I was having some trouble with the app and wrote a lukewarm review. I turned the 'fight for mic' option on and it's working much better for me. It's a good, reliable companion in the car.
This app works great on my note 4 as well. Developer is responsive and is dedicated to making things even better. Note 3: Does exactly what I needed. My dad is blind and uses his galaxy note 3 with Google now to make calls, send text messages, check weather, sports score etc. I needed something to wake up his phone. This app worked perfectly.
The app has an option to "fight for microphone". This allows the Hint2search to map your voice commands from any hands-free Bluetooth microphone. In my case, I'm using a Bluetooth helmet (Built brand) to perform voice dial. Hint2search maps voice dial action to Google Voice allowing me to do things like "navigate to Starbucks" or "how's the weather". The developer is very responsive. I had a question and he respond within hours.
Awesome app! I just bought some Jam Transit Bluetooth headphones and to my surprise they didn't have any voice command feature. So I checked the app store to find a solution. This app is perfect it does exactly what it says.... Thanks $$$
I love the app however there's one thing... This may be my error but I'm not finding the "switches" particularly the pocket protection. The screen always turns on when the bluetooth button is pressed. Can you assist? Thanks. By the way I'm using a Galaxy S5 with a Bose headset
On lg g2 you need to disable voice command. That did the truck for me. Great app. So much better going thru google voice commands than lg nonsense voice
Bypasses the useless phone dialer or LG/Samsung/HTC voice assistants and goes straight to Google Search (Now). Google search has dialer function PLUS everything else you want to do hands free... Like "Navigate to home".
Works when other apps didn't! Google (LG) Nexus 5, Plantronics M55 headset. Long press on the button brings up Google Now ready to listen! Thanks for making this.
Don't work on Note 3
This app worked with my X360BT and Xperia Z3c, whereas Bluetooth Launch would crash. The app doesn't return control to my stereo automatically, but that could just as well be an issue with the stereo itself.
Only used it for a few minutes, but seems to work well. A little quirky at times (extra beeps, a little slow, sometimes didn't connect to BT headset), but overall seems to work like it should. I have a Plantronics Discovery 975 which is a little bit of an older device so that may have something to do with the quirkiness.
I bought this because Google Now's 'always listening' feature is not always listening and I want something that will work in the car or on the go. The Nexus 6 is a very large phone and I want a way to avoid pulling it out of my pocket for small tasks like opening Pandora or making a call. With hint2search, when you press a bluetooth headset's 'action' button, it opens hint2search which then opens GN. Clunky setup, but that'd be fine if it worked consistently; unfortunately it only opens GN about half the time. Maybe it's an issue with the headset I'm using (LG Tone Pro) or the Nexus 6/Lollipop. Either way, it just doesn't do the trick for me.
Feature request: An option to mute or unmute the microphone when pressing next track or previous track buttons on a Bluetooth device while a call is in progress.
It successfully launches a voice search roughly 80% of the time. It fails often enough that I wouldn't consider using it as a daily driver. Sometimes I can hear the Google Now "ping," and sometimes it fails to play. There is also a considerable delay between button press and voice recognition launching. However, I might attribute that to the age of my device (GS3, Android 4.4.2 Stock). Headset is a new Moto HX600 (AKA Moto Boom). As for the name, what about "BluetoothNow"?
My only issue is the lag. I see that the dev has responded and said the lag is necessary to make this hack work, but is it necessary on ALL devices? Maybe you could give us an option to adjust the delay?

I thought I could use Google Now directly via Bluetooth after the various improvements. I found I still need hint2search in order to play songs on Spotify via Google Now. Screen veil is great to stop random screen presses whilst the phone is in the pocket.
