RecForge II Pro - Audio Recorder for Android
Fantastic sound quality with a simple visual interface that allows microphone adjustment and visual feedback during recording. Easy manipulation of pitch and speed make this a perfect tool for capturing and transcribing musical ideas. One suggestion: Some people seem to be confused by having to touch the eject/arrow symbol to return to the recording interface. It seems that people think the recording button occasionally disappears due to a bug because they don't understand how to toggle between the file and record interfaces. Perhaps something as simple as making the toggle button red like the record button (or orange, or any color that would make it more visual) will help people understand that it is a toggle.
Works GREAT. Very good input gain adjust. Terrific record/pause desktop widget. Best recorder on android by far!! Note: some task killers &/or cleaner apps like 360 Security collide with Recforge. Norton Mobile works fine instead for me. Galaxy S7.
The interface and sound quality is good but it randomly opens up and starts recording without being told. Have 11 hours of nothing on my phone. It randomly deleted all of my files so that's a deal breaker for me.
Bugs are gone, works great if you use an external mic. Needs more gain control. Can record live music. One tap of my drums that are acoustic and it will distort from across the room.
Seems like a good application but has a major shortcoming not having a drop down option to record to SD card. After contacting the developer he told me how to set up my own directory path leading to the SD card but come on shouldn't this be built into the app from the start...especially when paying $4 for it? Please fix it. I see I'm not the only one complaining about this
Works like a dream with Rode Smartlav+ microphone, sound is super clear without distortion! Using this on all my Youtube videos (RODAS - Road of Dreams and Stories) with minimal postprocessing. Just pick any of my travelling videos, and you'll see how golden the quality is!
Brilliant at your fingertips quick memo for recording lyrics/melody and ideas for new songs and listen back / demo For developing and presenting new musical compositions.
Needs to be able to record straight to the SD card. Everything else is great, but without this feature, it feels a bit lacking.
Perfect for what I want. Good quality recording at last
Records great quality sounding files.
Awesome
App says it will work with sd card but does not. Contacted the help no response only recived a non helpful response after being abrupt about reversing the charge. To bad could have used it. Use something else.
I have tried to use it at least 20 times now! Definitely gave it the old College try! The 1st time I used it I thought it was working because it looked like it was recording. 7 minutes of playing guitar and singing the tune and excited to hear it and.... NOTHING!!! Has not worked for me once since the last update! Crashes or says it's recording but no playback because it never got started!!! Please fix!
I'm looking forward to using this on the Google Pixel line and trying out all of the features to see what works. I'm most interested in the Tasker usage that I saw in the help file. If that works so that I can trigger AutoPebble to start recordings from my watch and it's decent recording quality with no skipping, then I'll bump a star up. The only other concern I have is there are many typos in English in the documentation and descriptions I have seen for the app - while I know that's not necessarily an indicator of functionality, it would definitely help newer users.
Was working great on the Nexus 6p but guessing after an android update something is broken. Now the app crashes all the time. No fix forthcoming?
Works well. Love the schedule function. Will not record to SD card on my galaxy tab (permissions are set correctly) which is lame
I use it for capturing thoughts. It's the closest app I've found to a true dictaphone. Good work. Love it. Developers might like to consider adding an optional spectrum analyzer with a choice of the number of frequently bands. They also may like to consider improving auto pause restart capabilities in places of high background noise(e.g. car, street, shower, quiet). But please, if you do, don't let it impact on the runtime performance and be sure to keep testing on the cheaper less powerful or older phones. Awesome app. Keep on improving it. You've got a good product there. Hard to find these days. Good work! Also, the recording in a quiet environment doesn't work so well on my Xperia when the phone is charging from mains. Too much background noise. Works fine on battery. When in skipping silence mode, on scheduled recording, it would be great if it datetime stamped each auto start and stop point with easy to read text. ** I can't read the tiny text on the top of the graphical display. When using auto-convert on closing, of large files, the writing metadata appears to either be getting into a continuous loop or is just taking way too long to complete. Still a great app though. Please keep on working on it. **My EDIT: It does datetimestamp auto start-stop points, providing you leave the format alone (e.g. As .wav). I was auto converting the format upon stop recording whence the timestamp info gets lost unfortunately.
Love it! Just wondering if there's a way to disable the app from closing all other audio apps when I hit the record button?
Have used RF Pro for several years now, but after last Android updates on my Note 4 Edge, the app quits immediately after startup. Hoping someone can fix this soon.
Won't work at all on my brand new Motorola android phone. Crashes every time i start it.
I had high hopes for this app and at first had loved it - the quality of the recordings was high and I was looking forward to using the ability to edit recordings and make clippings for memorization (gross anatomy and histology courses) BUT the interface is not easy to use and resulted in the following situational issue, making me hesitant to continue using it. The app apparently saves recordings automatically to whichever folder you last browsed. So I made a folder within the app's directory for my class lectures. Recorded lectures for 2 weeks and was able to listen to them in the app, though had not yet had time to figure out how to save them to the cloud and back them up. Then a necessary phone update happened and everything got strange. The day before my final, all of a sudden none of my recordings were in the app. the folder I had made was completely gone. I searched my phone and originally it found the recordings burried elsewhere (of course with the finder not indicating where, though they were listed in the Samsung music player), so I go to listen to them and they won't play as mp4s (and the ones I had converted to mp3s and relabeled were gone from the start). So I downloaded vlc player to listen to them, crashed the program, reopened and when I went to look for them again via finder they were gone. After 2 hours of searching my phone and digging through it on my comp (the directory folder displayed it was last updated at 7:42 am that day, when I was driving to work and not in the app) and a call to AT&T tech support, no luck they were gone. My only guess is that the app's folder directory is technically a cache file that was slowly being cleared away in the background of my phone after the update. So in the end I lost my favorite study aid that had been working wonderfully previously the night before the test. I'm switching to a recording app with an easier user interface and automatic uploads to the cloud.
can not play a 'x.wav' file! what more needs to be said? somebody just missed the point! not for pro's!
Great app. Have used first v1, and now this new v2 for years now.
Love it. I'm a guitarist and use it mainly for recording ideas. Absolutely love the true stereo!
Eh.. Expected better, clunky to use, loses sound. Not worth 3 bucks
Needs an Android 7.0 update once you get the volume levels figured out!
Crashes every time i use it, and stop
This pro version app is quitting after software update. My current version is android 6.0.1. Please suggest the remedy. Free version working fine
After my purchase this app stops its features, even it can't play the audio.hate it
Record button constantly disappears
Excellent app. Useful for serious applications.
Great app
Awesome
This software (Pro Version) seems to be artificially limiting (by brute force clipping) the signal it records based on the gain settings. True audio gain is not processed like this. In this app, using a negative gain only creates a false ceiling. It basically clips your audio at a lower volume. What the heck?
I saw a screen offering me a refund... before I got to try it. Now that I tried it and don't like it, I can't find a way to get a refund. I tried emailing for customer suppourt yesterday; but got no answer. The thing I bought this app to record, used up all my available space recording in mono; and the app stopped recording: even though I have a brand new sd card in my phone, with over 27g's on it. I spent hours trying to get it to record in stereo, and save it to my sd card. Now, I just want a refund.
I've used a lot of different recording apps on Android over the years. Most were not very good. It's refreshing to find such a useful, intuitive app, with no gimmicks. Recommended!
Hi, from my point of view application functionality and sound quality is good (i bought pro version), but logo and inerface is very ugly! Need more minimalistic and discreet design.
The cleaner apps like Clean Master deletes all the recordings done through this app which is a big big disaster. Please do something about it. Why is it recognising the audio files as unwanted?
Can you please include the ability to enable a pre-record buffer of user-specified length? This way, if you are in a meeting you enable the buffer and as you hear something important you press a button to record buffer and ongoing audio to file and when things get less interesting stop ongoing recording but continue buffer capture until another interesting section is heard. Cogi has this as well as some hardware recorders. Thanks for the very nice app

This app seemed OK and I used it to make some sample recordings. Unfortunately, they issued an update just one day afterward, and it wiped the files before I could back them up. Not cool!
