About MyAccessible.EU Navigation (Unreleased)
The MyAccessible.EU Navigation App is a pedestrian based navigation tool aimed specifically towards wheelchair users. It allows users to specifiy restrictions to their route in terms of environmental characteristics of a route that may cause obstacles such as kerb height and surface materials. This information is then taken into account when generating a route via the Universität Heidelberg OpenRouteService route generator (http://openrouteservice.org).
As well as allowing users to define restrictions for their route, they are also able to select nearby target destinations based on their accessibility (using Wheelmap locations from http://wheelmap.org).
As the app is aimed at pedestrian based navigation, it also makes use of landmarks in routing instructions - rather than the classical "Turn left in 100m" the instructions make use of local features, or landmarks, to provide information as when to turn - "Turn left after the Covent Garden tube station".
