JS New News? for Android
You're device is in silent mode (and it's impossible or impolite to look at the display)? But you still want to check if there is at least one new mail or short message? Or you're not sure whether you've missed a notification?
With "New News?" just raise your smartphone a bit (30°) and the weak vibration in your hand tells you (and only you!) if it's time to make a break... ;o)
Note: App currently only supports Gmail addresses (...@gmail.com).
Therefor you *must* enable POP3 for GMail: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13273

Important informations:
"Internet Access" is for counting mails (of course this needs the account information), "SMS" for counting short messages, "Write Permisson" for saving the options, "Vibrate" to notify the user, and "Standby Mode" to avoid sleeping while service is running.
A smartphone in deep sleep mode unfortunately cannot notice any movements. Therefore this mode is disabled, while the service "New News?" is running. Of course this costs a little battery capacity, but this is in principle not avoidable.
