OpenVPN Installer for Android
OpenVPN Installer will try to install openvpn (2.1.1) in /system/xbin or /system/bin. Your mileage might vary depending on your phone.
Androids ifconfig implementation fails to configure the tunnel device correctly. So you need ifconfig provided by busybox. Try a BusyBox Installer from the market.
The path to ifconfig is a compile time option to openvpn and can not be changed at runtime. This installer includes multiple binaries with preconfigured ifconfig locations.
The preferred way to install openvpn is to put busybox at /system/xbin/busybox and then choose openvpn preconfigured for '/system/xbin/busybox ifconfig'.
Finally /system/xbin/bb is not needed anymore! I hope this update makes live easier for some of you.
Waste of time! Uninstalling!
..auf Samsung S5. Sehe auch das log nirgends .. "Show log in menu", aber kein menu vorhanden
Doesn't work on the note 3
Bad one
It doesn't work and it is the last thing i need, please fix this. I will give it 5 stats when fixed.
I really like, but while it worked flawlessly on my Nexus S and Nexus 7 with CM, I am having trouble getting it to install on my new Nexus 5 (rooted and busy box installed). The log say it cannot mount /system in rw so the installation fails.
I am not able to install open vpn binary on my samsung galaxy tab 3.... very wrost
not working can't install binaries on my rooted zenfone 4 lollipop i hope fix this
root access... still not getting installed
Does not install at all in Lollipop and manual install execution fails due to position-independant executable issue. Please fix.
With android 5.0 is not working anymore
Still works great! Install both Openvpn Installer & Openvpn Settings. Navigate to /data/app/de.schaeuffelhut.android.openvpn.installer-1.apk/assets and copy openvpn-2.1.1-static-busyboxinxbin to /system/xbin. Rename openvpn-2.1.1-static-busyboxinxbin to "openvpn." Set permission to "rwxr-xr-x." Launch "Openvpn Installer" for binary check. These directions worked great for me! "Use VPN DNS Server" option does not forward DNS traffic. This is minor!
Sad thing is, I can mount system writable using the normal method and pull the openvpn from the installer and it works great. I'm not entirely sure why it cannot.
agree po
I can not install it
Can't mount file system as rw.

Best App For Free Internet
Still working by as Edin Korda say... need manual move the file in the right path.
Doesn't seem to work on android 4.4
not working on 4.3?
Well, that's good .. but u must fixed some Issue
Everything works. 3D smart tv, ps4, and laptop. All free apps. Couldn't be happier
the thing tries to remount /system rw, which doesn't work because it detects the wrong filesystem. I remounted by hand, but it refuses to install because it still looks at the wrong filesystem.
That smooth.
Bad.....!!!!!!!!
Worked perfect on 4.2 but is not working on 4.3
It works properly

Would love to have VPN access on my devices, but installer can't mount /system as writable, install fails... I'll look for a workaround...
I am use 6 month openvpn without pay data pack money really guys amazing speed unlimited internet free excellent app
Installer could not mount /system as RW, manual installation via adb worked, but VPN could still not connect: no errors, log file empty :-/ Same config works just fine with "OpenVPN Connect"...
Running N5 stock 4.4.2, rooted, bb, custom kernel. OpenVPN installer doesn't work (cannot mount /system)... So I manually pushed "openvpn" to /system/xbin and set permission to rwxrwxrwx. Also I pushed "liblzo.so" to /system/lib with permission rw-r--r--. Now IT WORKS :)

To perform a manual installation you will require a root explorer such as Root Browser. Navigate to "/data/app/de.schaeuffelhut.android.openvpn.installer-1.apk/assets" and copy the file "openvpn-2.1.1-static-busyboxinsbin" to "/system/xbin". Afterwards rename the file to "openvpn" and set its permission to "rwxr-xr-x". Finally open the Openvpn Settings and it should detect the installation correctly. Done successfully in my SuperSu rooted Nexus 5 on 4.4.2
Cannot remount / for some reason on Android 4.4 to do the install. Please fix.
