About SMS Aux Tool 1.3
SMS Auxiliary Tool enables you to change short messages from status outbox/queued into status failed. This is to enable the stock messages app to access them again for resending (it helps solving SMS transmission problems in areas with a weak GMS network). Dynamic view of the SMS folders.
The idea: The stock messages app of my HTC Desire Z smartphone revealed some problems in my village with a weak GMS network covering, especially by sending to groups. Several SMS remained - because of the weak network - in the status queued/outbox and nothing happened any longer with them until a hardware restart of the phone. The stock messages app of the HTC desire Z couldn’t access them altogether but only one by one, because there is only the menu function of accessing “Undelivered” short messages.
The SMS Aux(iliary) Tool fills the gap: All SMS with status queued/outbox can be set to status “failed” with the “Change to Failed SMS” button. Then they can be re-accessed with the stock messages app with “menu / Undelivered” and either can be resend with “menu / Retry sending all” or deleted with “menu / Delete”.
For my intensive use of short messaging the SMS Auxiliary Tool has already been a great help, so that I want to present it to everybody. For those who don’t have the above problems the SMS folder monitoring might be interesting, so that you can follow the SMS transmission status.
Features:
* Dynamic view of the important SMS “folders”. You can see the progress of the transmission process.
* Change all SMS with status queued or outbox to status failed. Then you have to re-access them with the stock messages app
* Button to set all unread SMS to status read
* “Info” button, that shows whether all SMS have been sent (green) or whether there are undelivered SMS (red)
Some hints:
* For testing the app in an area with good network quality do the following: swith into airplane mode, compose and send a new SMS, start SMS Aux Tool, press the button on top and continue with the stock messages app as described above.
* The “info” button at the bottom is used for status display, it has no further function if you press it.
* Depending on the Android version it can be or not that draft SMS are counted in SMS-All
* The names of the menu functions I mentioned refer to the stock messages app of my HTC Desire Z for Android 2.3.3
