About WikiAndPad alpha/beta

WikiAndPad is (planned to become) WikidPad's little brother for Android. WikidPad is a Wiki-like notebook for storing your thoughts, ideas, todo lists, contacts, or anything else you can think of to write down. It is Open Source and available for Windows (binary installer) and Linux and Mac OS (as Python source).

WikiAndPad will allow to create, read and edit binary compatible wikis on the Android platform.

This is an alpha version, be very careful and make backups!

At the moment it can only:

- work with database backends Original Sqlite and Compact Sqlite (Original Gadfly won't be supported)
- open existing wikis on sd-card (can't create new ones)
- list all wiki words, choose one to open, delete or rename it (similar to "Open Wiki Word" dialog in WikidPad)
- edit contents of a wiki page
- syntax highlight wiki words in the editor and allow to jump to other pages (double-tap to jump or place cursor in wiki word and tap "Go")

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT BUG REPORTS AS COMMENTS. In most cases I have to ask further questions which I can't do for comments and the bug remains unfixed.

For bug reports write to mbutscher@gmx.de, visit mailing list

or submit a report (set group to "WikiAndPad") at:

Is this only for phones? I installed on my tablet and can't figure out how any of it works. I have the wikidpad for Windows and love using it. If it's only for phones then i'll retract my review but if it does work for tablets and someone can explain to me how to get started loading a word list I would appreciate it.

Using the app for years with Windows Linux and now Android. Awesome app. Please keep it up.

I tried opening my wiki from my Dropbox several times, but the app always crashed. Opening from an SD card seems impossible, too, as the app wouldn't let me navigate any higher than storage/emulated/0. If you only need a wiki on your phone, it works like a charm. If you need one across all your devices, check out other options.

Lots of bugs... I sync with bit torrent sync and have to make sure to close the android app before using the windows app otherwise the wiki no longer opens...

I love the idea, but I can't even get started. There's no option even to create a page.

Please, please, pretty please continue to develop! I haven't found anything that comes even close to the pc version. I really need this app to have more functions.

This app works good. Two areas for improvement that are important to me. Wiki words created here don't automatically add themselves into my desktop version when I sync with Dropbox, and there is no night theme. Other than those two things, this app is great for editing your wiki and makes it easy to get down your ideas on the go.

Can you rebuild for KitKat? Used it on different devices. And it crashes when opening my existing wiki. Thanks

It's awesome to be able to view and browse my notes on my device. Keep up the good work!

I heard about this program on the Writing Excuses podcast. This app is the best thing ever, especially when paired with dropbox. It's such a great resource.

I use Wikidpad in my home system to create a working database and needed a mobile app just to access and view. A nice tweak would be the option to view and search a mobile Wiki as a Read-Only.

I'm writing a book on mythology and this wiki is an excellent resource for keeping everything straight!

Looking forward to setting how this app develops. Big fan of the desktop version.
