Hangouts Chat Export

Reasonable concept, however, it requires that I select a telephone number for every single past contact before export can occur. If you have hundreds/thousands of different threads, this make the export largely unusable. The app does not map any telephone number from the takeout zip without manually walking through every entry. Too time consuming to be considered useful for large exports.

The fact that you have to manually assign phone numbers to each text conversation makes this app kinda useless, as I have hundreds of conversations. It would be great if the app auto inserted the conversation name into the phone number field because the conversation name is the phone number for sms

Trying to export sms from hangouts, although a number is associated clearly with the message, have to manually re-enter it for each contact! Awful!

This app is worth every penny. I've been trying for weeks to figure out how to migrate from Hangouts to another SMS app without losing all of my Project Fi messages. This app walks you through exactly how to do it. After got them all converted, I just used SMS Backup & Restore to import them all, and everything worked flawlessly.

The app was a little confusing, but it did transfer all of my Hangouts conversations to SMS. Really needed this since Hangouts is taking SMS away and I had mine combined. Thanks!

Unfortunately it was greater than the 15 minute window for claiming a refund. Every time I run it, I get as far as trying to import the zip file, and it crashes.

Wanted to move from Hangouts to Messenger for SMS, this app worked perfectly to export my SMS messages from Hangouts to a .XML file that SMS Backup and Restore imported perfectly.

I have over 100,000 messages and when parsing the json file, I get the 'hangouts chat export has stopped' error. Sort it out or I ask for a refund

It successfully exported a Hangout file of over 42,000 records.

Options 3,4,5 and 6 are not there.. It is hidden.

I've extracted from Google Takeout backup of Hangouts history containing almost 20k messages into to a simple .xml file, then with no problems restored and reviewed all of them using SMS Backup&Restore app. Why did Google team not develop such basic and necessary tool - only they know. For me, it doesn't matter now, because Lorenz Webber created a perfect piece of software. Thank you!
