universe2go ist ein audio-visueller Himmelsführer über den Sternhimmel.

1) Im Sternkartenmodus kann sie separat ohne Gerät als elektronische Sternkarte betrieben werden. Im Sternkartenmodus steht allerdings ein nur sehr eingeschränkter Funktionsumfang zur Verfügung.

2) Im Planetariumsmodus erzeugt sie die Anzeige für das Zusatz-Gerät universe2go und führt dich als Audio-Visueller Himmelsführer durch den Nachthimmel.

Mit Hilfe einer AR-Astrobrille (AR = augmented reality), kannst Du gleichzeitig den realen Himmel und virtuelle Überblendungen mit Informationen zu dem gleichen Himmelsausschnitt sehen. So entsteht eine Symbiose des tatsächlichen Sternenhimmels und einer virtuellen Darstellung desselben Ausschnitts.Die App generiert Bilder und grafische Informationen basierend auf der lokalen Zeit, deiner Position auf unserem Planeten und der Orientierung des Geräts. Oder kurz gesagt: es weiß, wo Du bist und wohin Du schaust.

universe2go hat gegenüber anderen Sternkarten-Apps 3 entscheidende Vorteile:

Im Discovery-Modus erforscht Du die 88 offiziellen Sternbilder. Lerne, wie sich die Sichtbarkeit der Sternbilder im Laufe des Jahres ändert und welche Sterne zu welchem Sternbild gehören. Diese werden durch Linien zwischen den echten Sternen visualisiert. Und das beste: universe2go führt dich mit zahlreichen gesprochenen Texten durch den Himmel.

Im Mythologie-Modus zeigt dir universe2go Bilder der mythologischen Figuren, die die antiken Kulturen, vor allem die Griechen, mit den Sternen verbunden haben. So lernst Du auf einfache und unterhaltsame Weise viel über die antiken Helden, Götter, Bestien und Prinzessinnen.

Im Deep-Sky-Modus siehst Du interessante Himmelsobjekte, die Du normalerweise nicht mit bloßem Auge sondern nur im Teleskop sehen kannst. Erkunde die wunderschönen Nebel, Galaxien und Sternhaufen, die zwar unsichtbar, aber dennoch in großer Zahl den Himmel bevölkern. universe2go zeigt dir eine sorgfältig selektierte Auswahl der schönsten und interessantesten Objekte. Die wichtigsten Informationen zum Objekt werden im Head-Up-Display angezeigt und dann zoomt universe2go es tausendfach heran und zeigt dir die besten Aufnahme der Weltbesten Teleskope wie zum Beispiel dem Hubble-Teleskop.

universe2go enthält über 3 Stunden Audiomaterial und speziell aufbereitete Astro-Bilder für hunderte von Objekten: Sternbilder, Besondere Sterne, Galaxien, Nebel, Sternhaufen, Supernovae, Kometen und Satelliten. Insgesamt enthält es Daten für alle 88 offiziellen Sternbilder, ca. 120.000 Sterne und 7.000 Deep-Sky-Objekten (Nord- und Südhimmel).
