About Holo Reader (RSS/Atom)

Holo Reader is a really simple news feed reader (RSS/Atom) that comes in pure Holo design. It doesn't have dozens of features but focuses on bringing the news you want to your device. To make it even simpler for you, Holo Reader doesn't even offer any settings. Just try it out and enjoy the simplicity - it's for free.

Holo Reader includes FeedPusher (beta), which enables you to add new feeds remotely from any browser. Just log in to your Google Account on https://holoreader.appspot.com and send feeds to your device (has to be enabled in the App first).

To make Holo Reader look great on all kinds of devices it comes with specific layouts for several screen sizes and orientations, including the Nexus 7.

And the best part: Holo Reader is Open Source! If you want to contribute, search for "holoreader" on GitHub or go to https://github.com/hdodenhof/holoreader directly.

Current features:
* FeedPusher (beta): Easily add feeds to Holo Reader from your desktop computer
* Adding RSS/Atom feeds manually or by browsing to their URL (if compatible)
* Feed discovery (just provide the website's URL instead of the full feed URL to add a feed)
* Browsing feeds
* Reading articles
* Swiping between articles
* Automatic marking of articles as read
* Automatic syncing every four hours
* Manual syncing on demand
* Offline reading (excl. images)

Should you encounter any issues, please consider dropping an eMail instead of giving a bad review right away. Thanks.

Been searching the "market" for a non-Google based RSS reader that didn't have a poor UI: it wasn't easy; I tried at least 10+ apps. This is good enough for me (no widget, but oh well). Would be nice if it had option to import feeds (.opml).

A70%

Can you add Groups? For example, News, Tech, Science...to put rss in apropriate group...I like the interface. Also, a widget would be nice.

R70%
by R####:

I love it, however, I would like the ability to export subscriptions in bulk via opml.

R70%
by R####:

No ability to add folders, cannot move the location of the feeds, ie toggle which shows up where, nice idea, just missing to much to be useful

R70%
by R####:

Dude, this is perfect!

R70%
by R####:

Does exactly what it says. Could be easier to find feeds with though. I've not experienced any bugs or crashes yet

S70%
by S####:

It's very simple and nice rss reader, the only drawbacks I found so far is its ability to add certain rss websites. I have issue to add the Nature journal and Angewandte chemie. Everything else is greate and exactly what I wanted.

R70%
by R####:

Holo Reader is exactly what I wanted from an RSS reader. I'd tried all the other big name readers but their layout was either overly complex, convoluted or just plain inefficient. Excellent app. The one bit of feedback I'd give is that when viewing the app in portrait for items which have images (and I've created feeds via yahoo pipes which all have images); there could comfortably be 3 lines for the headlines. As it is currently the app truncates the headlines after two lines and then there is blank space where an obvious third line could easily fit.

X70%
by X####:

It does not has the feature it claims to support, (Offline reading), it only shows the (feed) view. Otherwise it is a tidy application.

R70%
by R####:

No need to create an account in the cloud. Just give it URLs. That's the kind of old school that made RSS attractive.

Have no Google reader integration, no feed search engine, no links in body. Only simple address line to add feed and earth symbol to look external content. Old idea in modern shell. This is classic :-)

R70%
by R####:

Excellent, most simple yet best interface, I have tried Google reader, greader, this one beats em

R70%
by R####:

The design is fantastic, but it's only for very light rss readers with a small number of feeds. If you're a heavy rss user and all your feeds are already on Google Reader, i hope you're prepared to sit down and manually add each and every feed you follow one by one. The second the developer adds Google Reader integration, i'll give this app a 5/5.

Remove feed pusher Worthless feature should be removed, and there should be a way to control how many articles are stored
