Altbäume sind von besonderem Interesse für den Naturschutz. Im Umfeld von Altbäumen, insbesondere in den Baumkronen, lebt eine Vielzahl von Arten, die unter besonderem gesetzlichen Schutz stehen. Deshalb ist es wichtig zu wissen, wo Altbäume zu finden sind, um welche Baumarten es sich handelt und ob die Altbäume als Einzelbäume oder als Baumgruppe vorkommen. Die AltbaumFinder App wird vom LANUV NRW bereitgestellt. Sie zeigt den aktuellen Meldestand zu Altbäumen in NRW und bietet jedem die Möglichkeit, den Standort eines Altbaums zu melden.
