About Keypad-Mapper - OpenStreetMap

Introducing a new app that easily records house numbers for OpenStreetMap - OSM !
Keypad-Mapper 3 makes it easy for you to record the GPS coordinates of house numbers for adding them later to OpenStreetMap. This app is the 3rd generation KeypadMapper available for the OpenStreetMap community, and improves on the older generations.

★★★ Features: ★★★
▶ records house numbers
▶ saves address data
▶ takes GPS photos for entering in JOSM
▶ indicates the GPS reception strength of GPS and GLONASS
▶ exports the recorded information

★★★ Why record house numbers for OSM? ★★★
Free navigation software requires free map data, and although the free OSM data provides a good basis for navigation programs, they are only as good as their data. This is why house numbers are essential to building a reliable map database in OSM.

With this app anyone can help compile house numbers for the OSM database by simply installing the app! Not only is it contributing to a great open source project, it’s also fun, entertaining, and easy to do while you’re walking the dog or out for a stroll. The collected data can be added directly to OpenStreetMap. All you need to do is set up an account at www.openstreetmap.org, edit the acquired house numbers, and upload the data to OSM. After only a few minutes, the world’s new acquired house numbers are displayed in OSM.
Custom ROMs are not provided

Perfect for what it's meant for.

Add support for external bluetooth gps (mock locations). This app collects data for the opencellid project. Not bad, but I want battery life. Have to check if this is a problem. With cyanogenmod you can force close it.

Great app!

I have to go to force it to close from the app manager as it doesn't seem to close on the back button. And i can't find a menu option for that?

D70%
by D####:

Keypad Mapper makes it so easy to take notes while out walking. After importing into JOSM, I can map an area much more quickly than I used to be able to.

And I suppose it collects data for the opencellid project. Not bad, but I want battery life. Have to check if this is a problem. With cyanogenmod you can force close it.

Doesn't try to do too much, but solves one problem quite well. Very fast for recording GPS location for small house numbers. Slower for house numbers that are longer. It's not perfect - the menu access that work in every other Android app (like the hard "menu" button) don't bring up the menu in this app. It could do with a few more niceties like direct upload to Open StreetMap. Overall, pretty gopd.

Great app! It makes it simple to contribute.

Great app that has resulted in me starting to map house numbers. It might be useful to have auto increment for numbers. In the UK we generally have odd numbers on one side and even on the other. To map both sides as you walk down a street I suspect you would need an entry box for left and right with independent auto increment of 2 for each as it doesn't follow that 2 is opposite to 1 etc. Another option might be to have a button that just adds 2 to the last entry. This would be useful in some situations and would save on key presses as soon as you get into double digits. Many thanks for the app.

When you're out and about and want a simple way to record data for Openstreetmap then this is your app. This is almost perfect but there's no way to update or edit the information once recorded. That's the only reason for not giving it 5 stars.

I was doing the same exact thing with osmtracker, but it just doesn't work as well for addresses.

Could use a tiny bit of ux work to explain 'start recording' better.

As an Openstreetmap perhaps for over 6 years, finally I can map addresses easily.

I bet one day I'll figure out how to use it

Excellent app for gathering address details. I've used its earlier versions but this is far better & improving all the time. Thanks for maintaining it. Tallguy

Works well as advertised. Some more obvious way (stop button) to stop data collection would be useful. Also intelligent prediction of next housenumber the user would just press okay to enter would be amazing

Works fine for gathering house numbers and new features are really cool.
