Wifi 5 for Android
Additionally a small icon can be shown in your notification bar displaying if you're connected to a 2,4GHz or 5Ghz network.
Used to be a sweet app, because it at least favored 5Ghz connections. No fancy bells and whistles, but sadly this has become like a ton of other wifi priority apps. It stopped working, so check out Swifi which seems to be working in 6.0 . Google needs to build wifi priority into Android ASAP...
Fixes androids sloppy ap selection
It did work on my LG G4 so why won't it work on my Samsung? No notification as well
Is not picking up the 5 GHz signal wifi
While it does connect to 5ghz it seems to default to 2ghz. There is no option to control if or when it will use 5ghz which kind of removes half the point of downloading this app IMO. Installed on Samsung S6 and lenovo tablet, same on both.
After upgrade to marshmallow this app doesn't work anymore
Works as advertised for me. I have a BT home hub 5. With the app active, it connects to the 5ghz band and without it goes to the 2.4. this is with auto switching enabled on the router.
Working application that enables your phone that even work on that frequency.
It's ok, but short on engineering
Only work with 5Ghz capable devices
Does nothing...
No issues and it forces my Droid Turbo to grab the 5g signal versus the slower one which it's predisposed to do. Makes a big difference when it comes to streaming especially in the fringe areas of the house.
I use the SGH-T999, which is the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3. I'm using the stock Android 4.3. In my home office my 2.4GHz network is at about -45dBm and my 5GHz network is -49dBm. It's the same SSID and same encryption settings. My 5GHz band has better SNR. Also, my 5GHz AP supports 300 Mbps while my 2.4GHz AP only does 130 Mbps (only supports 20MHz wide channels.) So, it would be awesome if this app worked. I'm sorry to report, with my phone it sticks to the 2.4GHz signal. Maybe on other phones it works, don't know. I'll give it 2 stars because it has one usefull feature. It gives me an icon in the notification area telling me if I'm on 2.4 or 5 GHz. That's useful, but mainly just reminds me the app doesn't work and I'm still missing out on a better signal. This should really be fixed in the OS. 2.4GHz stinks and 5GHZ is vastly superior.
Don't know whats wrong but it wont pick up my 5g net gear router second WiFi(i have 2 signals one is range up to 5 yd and the other is a speed one which handles large data for school and work.)
If this can find a 5GHz only SSID it will disconnect you from your current 2.4GHz SSID and connect you to the 5GHz only one. The trouble is that's simple to do manually. What we need is for this to prefer 5GHz over 2.4GHz for combined 2.4 & 5GHz SSIDs. At least for me, it doesn't do that. :-( Maybe this is the best possible without rooting and low level hacks. I might use it anyway just because it can show which WiFi band is in use.
Wow - perfect! Just what I was looking for... I have a dual band router broadcasting 2.4 and 5 on two separate SSIDs... now I can be sure that I'm using the 5 GHz channel when it's in range...
Not really sure if it even still works at all.
He does what he says
Fixes androids sloppy ap selection
A little slow on the switchover, leaving a period with no data, but that's probably a function of the phone.
Simply Works Beautifully!
Works. Great app
Its OK but a Lil slow
Used to work with 4.4. Doesn't anymore. Also you can swipe the notification away in lollipop and you'll never get it back! Please update or tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
Now I can keep my 5ghz up all the time. Phone does auto connect to 5gh sometimes. So if I drop signal I'll pick up 2.4 and this app will fix it in a few seconds. I am out maybe 2 seconds and that almost never affects you. Thank you!
Android TV box couldn't stream 1080p over the local network, until I installed this app, my wifi connected at 5Ghz and I just watched an hour of tv without a single dropout. This app saved me $200 on upgrading the box.
It always keeps 2,4. Uninstall. Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
I wish it worked but it cannot distinguish between 2 and 5GHz signals if the SSID is the same.
No issues on my 2013 Nexus 7. Awesome!
great! finally i'm able to connect via 5ghz and get fast speeds. cheers. thanks alot.
It does what it promises!!!
Its OK but a Lil slow
And simple
Good
Set and forget!
Good line wifi for me..
Perfect
Works on Nexus 7
Does exactly what it says and I can't tell you how happy I am to know, without question, that I will always stay connected to a 5G WAP when it's available. A thousand thanks for this little gem.

Worked fine before but now that my Xperia Z3plus upgraded to marshmallow I have no more notification. Switching did not work as I have the same ssid all over the house.
